Why you need to read a book !
When I was growing up, my mom saw to it that there was time set apart for us, children, to read. We went to the library on Saturday mornings and we were free to choose anything we liked. That habit of reading has served me well over the years.
Within the many volumes of books are biographies, fiction and non fiction accounts and for every individual there is a discussion that would interest him/her in some book. Some people like those large volumes while some prefer a quick read while travelling or in time off at home.
The act of reading is calming and centering. You leave the outside world and focus on your special interest for several minutes. You read, you think, you react and you learn something new, new words, new expressions. On bookshelves are heart-felt summaries of people's lives, wars, political matters, stories of love, hate and all the brilliant discoveries that have been made. In a world of electronics and noise and lots of distractions, it is good to pause, and spend some time with just you and your book.
I came to love books when some years ago, my life was in turmoil and with all the help I was getting the darkness seemed like it would be forever. I walked into a bookstore and picked up 2 books, and that was the beginning of the end. I then realised that the answers that most of us are looking for are explained in books and the act of reading, taking time out, extracting what we need, chapter by chapter, the unfolding truth can awaken us to the life we are looking for.
When was the last time you read a book ?

Yes like you, as a child I spent a lot of time in our local library. My favorite type were biographies about the men and women who had pioneered their way through to make our world what it is today. Then as a teen, I became a romantic and read "love stories" dreaming about the day that I would meet my true love. After marriage, I didn't have as much time to read and not having access to a library made reading that more difficult. After loosing my husband, I completely stopped reading. But in the last few years I have once again picked up reading, mostly Christian guidance books and some biographies. Reading is my granddaughter's favorite thing for us to do, so I don't mind snuggling under a blanket and reading "One fish, Two fish, red fish, Blue fish." The point of my reply is do not let "things" hinder your love of reading. Make the time. You might enjoy it.
Take care

Hi Charlotte, thank you for your comments. Your description shows how this exercise of being still and taking in valuable ideas and inspiration can be. It even provides special times with your granddaughter. Very nice !!!
Without being ‘clever’ I read about 2 books a week. There is so much I don’t know. Today’s is The Greateness Guide’ Robin Sharma whom I love.
Every success

This is a good post Joy! I saw your question in the forum but couldnt answer because i am so new and havent gotten any results yet. I do believe in this program and all the different ways you can make money. Part of what I like about it is this; it gets me to read again and learn new things, just like a book only in shorter version. I've loved reading since I was a child too. My mother signe me up for the book club and I was hooked for life.
I hope results come to you soon. I think if you focus on what you want, picture it, and get into the feeling of what it would be like to have it....YOU WILL GET IT.
All my best,
Kerry Lee
Hi Kerrylee, Reading can really open up the world. It did for me. I am also happy with the amount of reading that i have done since I took up membership at Wealthy Affiliates. Thank you for your comments. Best wishes.
