Taking Care of Number 1

It's been awhile since I last blogged in this forum. I have been busy trying to "figure it out:" working my "tail off" to create at least five posts per week. I accomplished this and then I raised the bar to 7 posts per week. Ambitious, but not the right move at the moment for me. At least, not the right move without some planning. In the process, I forgot to take care of # 1 (ME).

Let's just say, this sent me packing and off to a weekend vacation. I did not achieve the 7 post per week, but I came close (5 to 6) but, what did I learn?

  • I will achieve less the more I work. I must learn to work smarter and not harder.
  • I must make a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly plan.
  • I must set aside some time for social media and when that time frame is up, that's it.
  • I must make the sacrifice to rise early in the morning and do my post first and NEVER start off my day with social media. My creative juice flows between 2 am to 7 am, and this I should NEVER forget.
  • I must take more time to rest and relax.

Folks, I am hoping that by sharing, I can spare some of you the heartaches I experienced recently from being burnt out, and still achieving less. But, I am grateful for the successes to date:

  • 27 posts published
  • 8 pages published
  • 218 approved comments
  • Number 1 Google ranking for some of my pages and high ranking for others. This fluctuates, but, I am grateful.
  • Improved social media interaction and comments
  • Google Adsense approval and earnings
  • Amazon Affiliate approval for the second time around
  • ShareaSale and other affiliates approval
  • The lowest blood glucose readings I have seen in six years

This is where I will elaborate a bit. My website is about diabetes, a topic I am passionate about. I am researching more than I have ever done in my life and I am determined NEVER to purposely mislead my readers.

Now, I always feel like someone is "watching me," and so I am forced to stick to the program, make the lifestyle changes, so that I can continue to help others.

I have friends and colleagues in Jamaica reading my posts and making changes. My own sister, refers to my post, ever so often as she is now making some changes. Yes, I need to see the money rolling in, BUT, this is SUCCESS.

I am elated and honored to be able to impact lives in such a positive way. This experience is a humbling one, as I allow myself to serve those in need of information, inspiration and motivation.

I have come to accept that moderation is the key, both, for diabetes and life in general, and, now you can't plead ignorance, because, I gave you the heads-up.

I came here to make money, but so far I am making "pennies," and saving on my medical bills, but, I am touching lives and I am HAPPIER than I have been for a long time.

To my WA family, I wish you continued success as we focus on helping others and patiently await our $10,000+ per month. Be of good heart, knowing that our hard work will pay off in many ways.

Walk Good.

We can all be guilty of working hard and forgetting about #1. Hope you have slowed down a bit now and are getting plenty rest. xx

Thank you, Chez. The irony is that I am getting more rest, but producing more. I appreciate the check up and I wish you all the best.
