The first steps of my journey

Hello out there! You can call me Jose. I began here at Wealthy Affiliates about three weeks ago; so far I've written about 5 blogs within my own domain, which I purchased. Having your own domain will be viewed more favorably by Google and lead to better rankings.

I actually own it for the next year. There's the option to renew for another year, or 3 more years if I choose to do so.

I feel proud of the work I completed so far. One of the many things I like is the rigorous training I received. I feel like I'm back in college. The amount of writing that I'm required to do keeps my writing skills sharp as well.

Here at Wealthy Affiliates, I was given the tools that taught me how to configure my site. The platform came already set up. In other words, I didn't have to build the website from scratch. This is a plus, since it allows me more time to focus on my content; as a result, my writing is becoming easier to do.

This is very important due to the fact that your content is what will make your visitors want to hang around and return to your site.

My Niche

I decided to talk about natural or sea sponges. As a single father, I wash many dishes daily; a good sponge is an important necessity.

I actually enjoy this, as it's a relaxing activity, and an opportune time to become centered by practicing mindfulness, as the warm soapy water gently soothes my hands. I also enjoy cleaning dishes.

Inevitably, I noticed that kitchen sponges simply don't last too long; and so I wondered: what are the best sponges out there and why? I then decided this will be my niche; I have been learning more than I ever knew about sponges. I am having fun learning about sponges, and sharing that will be the icing on the cake.

The scope of my niche has widened somewhat. I extended it beyond kitchen sponges to natural sea sponges and the many benefits they offer.

I am excited by this topic because I have always loved the sea.

Great Information

Besides buying a domain and choosing a niche, I have also attended online classes called Webinars. These are a great tool here at Wealthy Affiliates. The last one I attended focused on how to configure menus. The best thing is that the information is always there, in case you need to go back and review.

Another thing of great value is the level of help I have received. There are many individuals ready to assist.

Looking ahead

Looking forward to the next three months, I expect to attract traffic to my site. Before that however, I would like to have a better grasp on my writing, and that will come from more feedback from my fellow entrepreneurs.

So far I received a few comments on a couple of my blogs and they've been pretty positive. As much as I appreciate that type of feedback, I need to see some criticism as well. I have much more to learn; and I am open to all kind of feedback.

There's much to learn here at Wealthy Affiliates, and I'm trying to soak up as much information as possible. I feel the tools provided here are excellent; and I'm confident once I have a good command of them, the sky will be the limit.

Looking further

In the upcoming 6 months, I see myself making revenue from my writing. That's a milestone I am looking forward to. Right now, I'm working on the foundation. Learning about things I had no clue about just a month ago. I can only imagine what I will know in 6 months, and how I will be applying that knowledge toward my goal.
