Good day you Wise Owls.
Right, the results are in for my 'surveys for cash' one day experiment and, oh My Lord, they are dire...
Any way, the details:
Started 'working' at 9.30am this morning and finished at 5.30pm this afternoon. In that time I had applied for 35 surveys, of which 18 I was screened out from due to me not being the demographic they were aiming their survey at.
I gained a whole £7.03 (or $9.51) or an average of £0.41 ($0.55) per survey
The most lucrative period for me was the hour between 1 and 2pm where I made almost half of my entire day's revenue (£3.03 ($4.10))
The worst period of the day was between 14.20 (2.20pm) and 15.35 (3.35pm) when I was screened out from 7 consecutive surveys and 3 times the site had 'run out' of surveys for me to apply to!
So, my opinion.

Yes, they are easy to do and the account was easy to set up
Your surveys are very much determined by the information you put on your profile
They will catch you if you lie and you will forfeit your entire account.
Cons:
OMG they are sooooooooo boring to do. You have to do micro surveys to ensure you're a good fit for the major survey; which means you enter in the same info for the next 4 screens before they yes.
You 'have' to game the system and aim for the surveys that are worth the most - don't try and do all of them survey by survey; it wastes your time that could be better spent applying for higher valued surveys.
On this 1 particular site; the individual payouts per survey were low, very, very low but, you gets what you pays for - sites with complicated setups will have higher valued surveys and that is to be expected.
Would/Could/Should I/We recommend them as a money-making side hustle?
In my opinion, yes, but only if you tell your readers/viewers to aim for survey sites that pay dollars rather than cents per survey. Sacrifice ease of revenue collection, for example, for higher dollar amounts and you may well make enough to call it a 'side hustle'.
Caveats
I have based this experiment on just 1 survey site out of the 100s available. A better, more realistic result would be to join 5-10 survey sites and work on them for 4 hours a day as if they were a 'side hustle' and then analyze the results.
PS: I may use the same survey site tomorrow (Tuesday) but only run for 2 hours between 12pm and 2pm and see whether I hit a 2 hour long 'gold seam' of surveys...hmmm.
Also, I did try do add a little extra through doing the searches on Google and Bing but I hit nothing - not 1 result came back with any additional ads that I could earn from. Not that it would have made a marked improvement on the final total but, as a popular UK superstore's ad tagline goes "Every little helps"
