My "A-Ha" Moment - Patience!

I wanted to write a quick blog to tell you all about an A-hamoment I had recently. I am very new to the WA community – less than ayear to be exact. I was first introduced to the Affiliate Marketingindustry about 3 years ago. This has been a huge learning curve forme. Trying to understand exactly how to create a website or landing page, market a product, increase rankings and followers, and ultimately try to make afew bucks in the process.

Seeing all the WA informational and training blog posts sentthrough the feeds has been a little intimidating as well because it makes mepause and think whether I know what I’m doing. Other affiliates withinthe community are sending training blogs with great content and it reminds methat the learning curve is steep.

Trying to get a grasp on SEO and marketing your website andunderstanding how content improves rankings on “Uncle G” and grasping theconcept of how traffic works and the different traffic sources. I meanthat’s a lot of moving parts and of course there’s a million other things tolearn. Just thinking about all of that makes my head hurt and made mehave moments of doubting if I could do this.

So my A-ha moment came from my current day job. I'm aSenior Compliance Analyst with a large health insurance carrier. A fewdays ago I was creating training documents for new hires with all the bells andwhistles. Pictures, screen shots, chronological directions and soon. And I realized that it’s taken me the better part of 10 years or soto learn and perfect my craft and be able to teach others how to do what Ido. Not saying it will necessarily take me or anyone else that long tofind success here, but I started from nothing - entry level basically, and overtime, worked hard and worked my way up to a level equivalent of a “SuperAffiliate” in my daytime industry. The one constant I’ve had through theyears was patience. The patience to learn, and increase my knowledge andexperience and turn that knowledge into actionable processes to hopefullyimprove my paycheck.

So now here with WA, I’m starting from the bottom, learning andincreasing my knowledge and gaining confidence and most of all, learning tohave patience all over again. Kyle and many other affiliates within WAhave stated this is a marathon and not a race. This is not a get richquick program.

This program is designed to give us the background and thesupport needed to build a sustainable long term business. But it takestime to understand the little intricacies that can make us a success in theonline space.

So my message to everyone new in the community is to havepatience. Learn everything we can. Do each and every action steptaught to us in the trainings. Don’t cut corners. Don’t getdiscouraged if your site is new and you aren’t getting traffic or ranked. Take your time and work the process. There are plenty of documentedsuccess stories in the WA archives of people confirming that the system worksif you work the system.

I hope no one minds that I shared my thoughts today. I apologizeif this is long.

All the best to each of you

-John
