Niche hunting: My Pain.
I have been in WA for the past 18 days now and i am still stuck on lesson 1. What is my problem? Finding a niche. Suggestions have been made by well meaning members including Kyle and Carson but i still have not gone beyond the first lesson.
I was asked to make my passion my niche but the truth is that i have a very competitive one: 'Making money' which brought me to WA in the first place and 'Soccer'. But for every kind of KW I query in www.adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal or using WA tool i find serious competition or non '0' which i am yet to understand anyways.
To be fair, my coaches have done a great job with different techniques for searching for a niches, I am either soo dumb to figure out which one suites me or ... I do not have the luxury of coming back to WA if i am not making any headways. $47 may not mean much for you guys in the western world but in Nigeria it is sizeable or atleast for me.
Really need help cos I am @ my wits end. I need momentum.
PS: I love wealthy affiliate and would love to remain an grow with all you beautiful people.

"Making Money Online" is a great niche and it is only competitive because of the sheer volume of people looking for just that. You are ahead of about 95% of them. Put up a blog on Wordpress (for free) and get started. You are not joining the military or going to prison by picking a niche. You are allowed to have more than one and you can change them anytime. When you purchase your first domain use your name if it is available and not too long and go with .com. This way you won't be tied down to one thing. For example I own getridofyourwarts.com I can' only address a minimum amount of topics from that domain. I hope this helps. I did not hesitate to enter the "make money" niche because I learned early on that even crumbs from a huge niche like this one can feed your family.
@nomadkfd. Are you saying despite the competition (which i might say is so high) i can take a dip and be successful? This however goes against the advice i have been receiving since i got here. I was told to narrow it down my niche to a specific group until i find one with a lower competition which will give me a reasonable amount of traffic. Use my name as a domain? That's new to me. Please clarify.

I think what he is trying to say is to use your name as a brand. Take a guy I read on twitter www.raymondselda.com, he talks about WA and other stuff and can pretty much talk about whatever as the domain isnt tied to anything in particular except him. Or use a general none specific name, Mooxter or something general or made up, if you want to talk about a variety of topics.
If you just want to talk about Nigerian trees, then a specific domain name might be best, such as www.nigeriantrees.com. Or take my site www.modernsteamers.com, just about steam cookers.
In respect to your niche areas, if you cant narrow down in an area you love, at least try and maybe look at one you might be interested in. For example, I dont love cooking, but im interested in it (I suck really badly but its fun!) so i have made a site based on something im not good at (still in progress). MAybe theres something there you can work with?
