The correct mindset towards success
Many Ways to Success
In today's world, there is a huge plethora of ways to earn an extra income by creating something for YOU instead of just accelerating other peoples' success. Besides what WA offers in its amazing training tutorials for affiliate marketing, there are many alternatives to make an additional income and start something on your own.
However, many people seem to not stick around and devote to something. So why is it that there are so many successful people in 2018, although the vast majority fails to be successful?
The answer is simple, their mindset is the main obstacle.
The correct mindset obstacle and how to overcome it
If you aim to set yourself up for success, the first thing you need to do is to rewire your brain. And this is, undeniably, the most difficult part of the success process. Rewiring your brain means a lot of things and I will split up my arguments into small chunks so you can comprehend what I am trying to say.
1. Get rid of bad habits.
Getting rid of bad habits is the most essential part of rewiring your brain. The things you do every day define who you are and getting the right things done and not doing the "bad" things will undoubtedly move us forward toward success. Give yourself 15 minutes to write down or think through (whatever you prefer) the things you do on a daily basis that you KNOW you SHOULDN'T DO. And imagine what would happen if you replaced those with habits that you know are good for you.
Not only would you feel better instantly, but you would unconsciously program your brain for success. Getting rid of bad habits is crucial since you only have so many hours every day to get the things done that you have to.
2. Focus your time on important things.
You have heard it before. All human being have 24 hours, 1440 minutes or 86.400 seconds. The way you use your time will determine your level of success. Many successful entrepreneurs suggest you work hard as many hours as possible on your business. While this is the best way to ensure success in a short period of time, it cannot be applied by us who still rely on a 9-5 job to pay our expenses.
The true value of OUR time is how we choose to invest our free time. The hours that we have left for us after finishing our necessary work routine. So, what do you do? Let's check a usual daily routine: You come home after work, you prepare lunch or dinner (depends on when you come back), you take some times off in order to relax your brain. And then? This is the crucial part. Most people switch on Netflix and convince themselves that they are too tired to do anything. While some days will be like that, as we can't avoid those days, if most of our days look like that we have not learnt to focus our time on things that matter.
We all have many things to do after coming home from work, many of you have families, social obligations, house cleaning and many more things we are all aware of. But when we find ourselves hesitating to do the necessary things and play it simple by being lazy and not focusing a chunk of our limited free time to our business, we have already lost the game.
So, what is the best possible way to exploit a portion or all of our free time to the things that matter? This is where decision-making comes into play.
3. Prudence and the decision-making process.
Prudence is the ability to make the right decisions. Prudence is not just associated with big life-changing decisions but even with small decisions we make on a day to day basis, consciously and unconsciously. This is where the 5-second rule applies.
Whenever you are faced with a dilemma between doing the thing you are supposed to do and by focusing on long-term gratification (decide to focus on your business) and the thing that you "feel like" doing at the particular moment and boosts your instant gratification (watch Netflix for example), you have a 5-second window to decide before your brain goes on autopilot. And you know damn well what your brain will decide to do.
The everyday small decisions we make, as I said before, define who we are and will be in 5, 10, or 20 years from now. Focusing more on long-term gratification than on instant gratification will make us happier in the long run and boost our patience, endurance and willingness to make things happen, setting us up for future success.
4. Train your brain and fortify your mental strength.
In order to realize your vision of success, you have to train your brain and dig deep into yourself discovering your true self. Before reaching success, you also have to define what success means to you. There are many ways to train your brain and the internet is your best friend in order to achieve that. Amazing youtube videos from great thinkers and motivational videos are a good starting point. Constantly challenging and developing your way of thinking is crucial for your success and you can only do that by hearing what other successful people have to say.
Use the positive side of the internet to your favor, brainwash yourself in a positive way and as Tony Robbins says: "Stay Hungry". Constantly learining things and developing the way you view things will defintely lead you to your destination.
Our mental strength is being fortified by doing these small and painful decisions day-by-day and our commitment to them. Decide to focus on your business, decide to learn a new language, decide to talk to that person, decide to apologize if you are mistaken, decide to be kind, decide to tell the truth and decide to stop doing things that are not good for you.
5. Think big, start small but START.
We all have dreams. Our dreams are what give us strength to endure and become better. I read once: "There is nothing more painful than believing that our future will be worse than our past". There is so much truth to that statement, it is almost frightening. You have to believe that your future will be better than your past for your mental well-being.
And how do you achieve your dreams? By starting small.
Starting small means visualizing the big goal and realizing what steps will reach you to that success you so much desire. Let us take Wealthy Affiliate as an example. "You want to have a successful affiliate marketing business, influence people and earn money which you can reinvest in your business and letting it grow further. You also want to live a financially independent life by being your own boss."
So, how do you go about that?
The first step is to realize that "complexity is the enemy of execution" as Tony Robbins says. Kyle has also mentioned many times in his training that keeping things simple is key. This does not only apply to the way you write content but also how you structure your thought process to achieve your desired goal. Let us chunk it up into small, comprehensive steps, we should follow on a daily basis, in order to develop a successful business by starting with the most important.
- Create content.
- Publish content on social media.
- Ask for comments, by utilizing the Site Comments platform.
- Follow the detailed WA training (either basic training for beginners or Jay's videos).
- Use Site Feedback to learn from the recommendations of other membersand what you should change and impove on your site.
- Engage with the WA community in order to help others and rank up in order to get noticed by more influential members.
- Learn and implement new strategies to take your site to the next level.
- Engage in social media to advertise your brand and find potential customers.
- Use E-mail marketing (after reaching the 100 viewers/day threshold).
- Use paid advertisement (optional).
This is my basic every day to-do list which I follow. If it does not start with creating content, I do not allow myself to go to the next step of the list. Setting priorities and devoting our time to imprtant things (as I mentioned above) is crucial. This is my to-do list. You can make your own depending on the goal you have set for yourself.
6. Do not lose focus on WHY you do it.
You should never lose focus on why you want to achieve your goals and dreams. When you encounter hindrances and obstacles on your way, remember that it is a journey not a destination. You have to like the journey in order to reach the destination. You also have to like what you are doing. Motivation comes and goes and you will not always be in the mood, but nonetheless you have to stick to your routine.
Focusing on the "WHY" will give you strength when things get tough. Define your goals, embrace the journey and get things done.
7. Do not overdo it and reward yourself with some time off.
We all here that successful people never stop working. To be realistic, however, this is not healthy or productive in the long run. Since we force obligations to ourselves and make commitments with the only critics being ourselves, we also have to reward ourselves by taking some times off and recharge our batteries. If we lose our interest and passion in what we do, it is all for nothing and that is why I said that we need to embrace the journey and understand that we are here for the long-term.
There is a difference between "not feeling like it today" and feeling overworked. We have to learn to differentiate between those two, by enduring the former and embracing the latter. The same principles apply when working out physically. And this can only come from a deeper knowledge of our feelings. No one knows better what we feel like than ourselves. Take some time off and start feeling comfortable with being alone. Do not let others whether friends, family or relatives to manipulate you. Do not let others decide who you are or what you will become. Learn who you are and what you want from your life and find yourself at peace.
8. And finally, DON'T GIVE UP!
Giving up should not even be considered an option if we feel like we found what we want to do. Taking some times off yes, but giving up after a while is what differentiates the successful from the unsuccessful. You have to keep pushing and keep getting this great bursts of joy after making the decision to focus your time on the things that matter. Whether that is every time you hit the "Publish" button in WordPress, helping someone who needs help or creating this blog post which I am doing right now.
There are two ways of viewing the world and our actions within it:
The pessimistic way is to believe that our actions have no impact on the world whatsoever, since we will all die one day and our actions have no impact at all, or
the optimistic way by deciding that every person is unique and that every action we take has an impact not just on our lives but also on the lives of others. By deciding that words have the power to move and remove and that we can all be an influence to people around us, we acknowledge that our own actions and words can do the same.
Maybe we are not the next Mahatma Gandhi or Elon Musk, but we can certainly affect the lives of people in our proximity. If all people would realize this, it would undoubtedly change the world and make every day worth living.
Conclusion
The road to success is one that requires both physical and mental strength. Many times, we forget to train our minds and our wrong mindset is the only thing that prevents us from achieving our true potential. Realizing our goals, dreaming big, and following a day-to-day recipe to success is very important. Being here for the journey and not the destination is an important point to understand. Most people prefer instant gratification to long-term gratification and do not have the ability to focus their time on things that are important. On the other hand, many people may realize what is important but cannot create a hierarchy of actions to apply.
Train your mind, become the best version of yourself as "Elliot Hulse" says, realize your dreams and never let anyone take away your dreams from you.
