I'm just using the wordpress typing tool, and find it very restrictive. help.

Thanks for asking, I learned a few things from the below responses.

I use Google docs I find it the easiest to use!

Hi - I use Notepad++ - it's basically notepad (built into Windows) but with a lot of other options I use in my 9-5 (programmer etc). But as James says, nothing is really as immediate as WP itself - you get what you put into the box - no faffing about with pasting from Word etc, or bullets not the way you want them. Plus you can work in full screen mode, so you don't have any distractions - you just type!

I don't know about Apple Machines - but in W7, it has quite a good voice recognition system - so if you prefer to just stick on a headset and type directly into WP, that's a great option too.

All the best, Mark

I am currently using wordpad. Any text or image can just be highlighted and drag in.

If you're writing in word, don't format the text and I think it's always better to NOT use the paste button of word but the raw text button, then all conflicts with formatting are gone.

Thanks guys, I wasn't sure if MS Word would work or not.

Hey Joe. I use MS Word...then copy and paste into WP...then add images and do formatting. This way you have another backup to your written words as well...

I have used Microsoft Word with moderate success. You will want to make sure when you copy from it to Wordpress that you use the Paste from Word button. It does not always carry over certain formats as well, such as I had issues with bullet lists. After a while, I ended up just writing my content right in Wordpress though.

What's the best writing tool for making your content?
