It pays to reach out
I just started my blog last week and only have a few posts up. I've been figuring out an achievable blogging schedule and also building up other social media accounts to connect with people and support my blog through sharing.
My blog is about stress management & I was thinking of posts for the upcoming week this past friday when FB gave me a sponsored post about a goal setting journal that was on KickStarter. Sign from the digital gods, amiright? ;)
I checked it out and absolutely loved the idea. I did a long form blog post about it, pledged $20, followed the company on social media, and shared, shared, shared, all along encouraging others to pledge.
2 people are behind this project and an hour ago 1 of the people (a woman) reached out to me via Instagram DM and wrote this.
"We are so grateful for your support & will be giving you a free pdf file in return of your kindness. I just read your blog & thank you for your kind words. Your writing is wonderful and easy to understand. I believe you will go a long way with your blog. Also, I tried to subscribe but it said there was a problem."
First off: holy fricking wow! I cannot believe I'm already connecting with people. Being genuine wins out, right? Second, I'm glad a fresh set of eyes was able to see that I hadn't actually added my e-mail subscription widget. #RookieMistake
As you can guess, I'm pretty excited. It may not be $$$ I'm seeing as an ROI, but this sure feels damn good.

It's great that you see that personal engagement and connection as a measure of success - because it really is and it will bring ROI in the end if you keep that attitude in my opinion. I really think you have what it takes.
