Going blog-wild. Just a blog in the wheel. This is a blog-eat-blog world. Here is my blogologue.

It's very smart of WA to suggest we post a blog here! If writing many blogs on our own websites helps us rank higher in google searches, I think that means that blogs written by a lot of us directly on to the WA page will help them rank higher, too! Or maybe not. I don't have much brainpower. Anyway, it's also beneficial for us to do, since according

to one study done by Dr. Gail Matthews, a psychology professor at the Dominican University in California, a while ago, those who wrote their goals down regularly were significantly more likely to acheive them than those who did not. In fact, she said that we human types were 42% more likely to meet our goals if we wrote them down, so-- win-win here.

I'd like to write about my progress here, because it is a little hard for me to measure. I had to step away from the program for about a month, and today is my first day back. I thought I'd feel a little lost again, but stuff like keywords and formatting slowly kept coming back to me as I typed up my most recent blog post.

I kind of enjoy writing the blogs. I know no one will really read them, and that they kind of exist more for the aforementioned google rankings than for the earth-shattering prose I've come up with, but it does fulfill me on a creative level (which I've heard is a good way to complement battling depression, by the way).

A small discovery for me was witnessing how all of my blog posts turned out to be about fun things to do or see around Brooklyn, NY. Originally my niche was going to be on walking shoes for people who overpronate, and I should still be able to link that in, but my webpage has more of a tour-guide vibe to it now, I think. So I might want to think about rebranding and changing up my home page to reflect that.

My last thoughts are these: I really like this step-by-step program Wealthy Affiliate has worked so hard to put together, and I plan on sticking with it through the end so I can give it a fair trial. But there is a part of me that wonders if every affiliate marketer takes so long to get their webpage up and running. Maybe I'm slow--I do spend more time on blog posts than I'd like to. I am impatient, I know that.

But there's a part of me that's wondering if I have to become such an expert in my niche, or if I could just build a webpage of, say, "unique gifts" and list a bunch of products I like under a bunch of different cateogries. When I look for gifts myself, I come across websites that are set up like stores and don't seem to have a blog element. Do they just type popular keywords in on the backend of their page, and is that how they stay high in the rankings? Maybe I'll try it out. I'd love to hear if anyone knows anything about websites like that, so please share if you do!

I'm excited to see the progress of you all in this program. I am not at the part where I've grabbed any affiliate links yet, but I'd love to hear from others who have made money already. My goal is to make my first sale this week!
