I NEED HELP – l’m trying to apply “Read More” to my homepage but when l use both ‘Read More’ tags in WordPress’s Visual and Text, nothing happens.

I’ve also tried “excerpt

Like GingerRatsep below was saying, you need to make sure that when you customize your theme, it is set to "Your latest posts" in the "Static Front Page" tab.

Your site looks very visually appealing and well-organized. My only suggestion would be to go through and double-click on all of your pictures and make sure to click "none" where it says "Link url." This way, people won't be able to click on your pictures and they won't open in separate windows.

Otherwise, great job on your website.

Hello Josh,
Thanks for following me and also your great advice on how to set up my frontpage. I'll take it on board and hopefully it works. Wish all the best in achieving your goal for joining WA. Catch you up later.

I did a blog about this a while back. Maybe it could help shine some light on it: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/jaweda2k/blog/using-the-more-button-to-add-a-read-more

Hello James,
Many thanks for your help. I got to know your blog last week and went through but it didn't work. I think is got to do with the theme as TravelHacker said, so may be l've to change my theme. But the trouble is, l wouldn't know the one that supports it.
All the same, your blog follow instruction is spot on, l mean is esasy to understand. Is just that it didn't help me this time.
Thank you very much.

I love the Catch Box theme that I use on my Game site and that does it automatically for the blog roll.

I've noticed in my experience that not all wordpress themes allow for post summaries with the 'read more' option. If you've tried doing it the proper way, it could be that the theme simply doesn't support it. (Even if it has the option in the settings - I've had the same thing...)

what's your url?

Hey Hantaah,
My url is:www.helpsave.co.uk

ah I see Jaweda2k's got it covered

The "home" page on my theme is my blog roll. If I do my article as a "Post" from my dashboard it will automatically go to the home page. I've used the "more" button on my post's edit page and it has worked fine. I haven't tried it on an article that I've created a page for, but logic tells me that it probably wouldn't work there.

Are you creating a post or a page for the individual reviews? Or are you just adding on to an existing article?

I'm using posts for my reviews, but you can add the reviews also under a menu tab based on the category or even specific posts.

Hey Johnson, i'm not sure if I understand your question so let me share what I understand and then let me know if we on the same page please :)

You want the "Read More" page to be the first page people see when arriving at your site? Without the "blog roll" ?

Hey TheHammer,
First of all, thanks for your interest of helping me out. The thing is, l've only one review on my main page and l want to add different reviews on the same main page. In that case, readers or visitors will only see the first paragragh and then click on the "read more" sign and read the rest of the content.
To do that, l've been told to use the "read more" tag in wordpress but still nothing happened when l applied. I initially placed the cursor to where l want the "read more" to start, and something like this code appeared () and updated it. However, nothing happened.

I see what you mean now... Unfortunately I wont be able to help you... I had the same thing happening with me and in the end decided to change my theme :)
