A Sobering and Inspiring story

Today I read an article in a local paper about a French small-businessman just into his 40s who apparently about 3 years ago doing something at home suffered a seemingly insignificant scratch on his finger, which he thought no more about at the time.

A few days later he went on holiday with his wife and young children. One night he had a headache so went to bed early. During the night he slipped into a coma caused by a rare infection stemming from the scratched finger which lasted a month.

When he did wake up in hospital a month later he tried to get out of bed, only to find he had no legs! He then tried to push the bedside button to call the nurse, only to find that he had no hands either! The doctors had said that the only way to save his life was to amputate all four extremeties. Poor guy, the paper carried a photograph and all that is left is a torso with a fully functioning head. I can´t even begin to imagine what horror he must have gone through.

Now, just 3 years later, with prosthetic limbs fitted, he is gradually getting his former life back, learning to walk again, even to drive again, and just basic tasks to generally look after himself. That anyone could overcome such horrendous bodily damage and find the inner strength to carry on just amazes me. Of course in a leading European country such as France all the best and latest help available can be got, but even so this is an incredible comeback.

By comparison, our little daily problems because Google hasn´t ranked us, or whatever, seem soooooooooo insignificant !!!!!! If we can just find maybe a fraction of one percent of the courage and determination that this man has shown, we won´t ever give up and eventually will all shoot right to the top. The moral of this story has to be,,,,,,,,,,,,, don´t quit - ever!
