My antivirus software (F-secure) just asked me if i wanted to reinstall browser extensions.

What are browser extensions and do i need to be concerned about them. Why wer

Jim,
Depending on the browser you are using, there may be "extensions." These are small pieces of code to help the browser do certain things. Firefox calls them "add-ons." For example, there is a "Facebook" add-on to help Firefox communicate with Facebook.

Depending on your browser, go to "Tools" or "Help." There should be a menu item to display the add-ons.

Do you need them? I think the answer to that is maybe. I would not install to many as it may slow down your browser.

Hope this helps.
Alex

Thanks for the info. It helps me to understand better. I will be upgrading to Windows 10 soon and using their new browser. From what you said, i assume that the Edge browser will have extensions also.

Hi jimilee. Browser extensions are simply enhancements to your web browser. Kind of like plugins in WordPress. The Adobe Flash Player is probably the most common browser extension. It's always good to be aware of what extensions/plugins are installed in your browser. There are so many of them. Just as with software you can download to your computer, there are helpful browser extensions and harmful browser extensions. Depending on what browser you are using, there are different ways to check which browser extensions are installed. Let me know if you'd like some more detailed information about browser extensions and I could point you to some good resources.

Thanks for the info. I am just feeling my way in creating a web page. There are so many things to consider. Most of them i had never heard of until i joined WA. I will be using Windows 10 and its edge browser soon.

In view of the recent posts about adblock not allowing direct link banners to be seen, I direct downloaded the image i want to use. I uploaded it into WP. My question is where

When you're using FTP your images are stored in wp-content/uploads then in year/month folders. If you want to look at your post's HTML then use View Page Source in your browser (Ctrl+U). I hope this is what you need. ~Marion

I downloaded the image to my computer then uploaded it to the media area of my WP manager. From what yo said, I should be able to use an ftp program and see my images embedded in the web file structure. Is my interpretation correct?

Please have a look in this text, it gives steps:

Wow! Great page on how to do images on WP.

it depends where you uploaded then to, but generally the images uploaded for the pictures on the web sides are in the media folder

i would like to insert a jpg into my web page. Can't seem to find a WP plugin that allows me to do that. Once i get the jpg into my web page, how do i get the text to wrap arou

This should cover it ~Marion

Go to the page you want the jpg on
and in the top of the editor you will
see buttons if you hover over them
you will see one that says insert image.
Click on it and upload the image you want.

Found it. Thanks.

My pleasure Jim.

You do not need plugin for that. There is a lot of training about it at WA, just search in the tab above. You may also have a look into this text:

There sure is a lot of stuff to consider. Wow! I keep plugging away at it.

I have published the three first pages on my web site; about me, getting started and privacy policy. I noticed on the comments that my site asks for name, email and website. Ho

I have send a comment; should be in your mailbox for approval...
And you will see, my "fake" mailadres is in the comment, so you capture them by default...

How do i capture email addresses in comments?
