Why SEO Is Now Considered Search Experience Optimization

Over the past few years, search engines such as Google and Bing have been focusing on upgrading their algorithms in order to provide the best possible end user experience. However, because their algorithms inherently rely on automated crawling bots, it has always been very difficult for them to really be able to simulate the actions of an actual user. Because of this, they simply cannot optimize the search engine results as best as possible because they do not have the right kind of technology to do so. Instead, the algorithms place a significant emphasis on the different things that could impact the end user's experience such as the speed of the website, the mobile optimization, the site structure, and the quality/quantity of content. In this article, we will be going over some of the different ways that the search engines are going to change now that SEO is considered search experience optimization rather than search engine optimization.

Ways It Will Change:

1. Provide Answers.

The number one thing that you are going to want to do as a website owner and/or marketer is try to provide real answers. You want to be sure that you are providing real answers to your audience because that is the only way that you are going to get ranking high in the search engines. Because the search engines are making a concerted effort to really rank the highest quality website's as high as possible, you are going to want to make sure that you are providing real answers to real questions that are being asked. You will want to think about your prospective visitors at every single stage of the marketing process. You want to try to figure out what people are looking for, whether or not you are properly answering it, and whether or not you are making it likely that they will come back.

2. Embrace Mobile.

Another way that the entire shift to an experience has changed SEO is the fact that search engines are now relying more on mobile every single update. Search engine providers like Google and Bing know and understand the important of mobile on their business. The fact is, more and more people are using mobile devices as their main daily drivers and they know that a majority of the entire search traffic are actually using mobile devices. Because of this, you as a marketer are going to want to really embrace mobile and make it a primary focus for your entire marketing strategy. Unless you have optimized your website for mobile traffic, you are not going to get a boost from the search engines. In fact, you are likely to get downgraded for the simple fact that you are not going to be providing a quality end user experience for those that are coming or landing on your website. For this reason, you will want to really make sure that you are completely focused on mobile users and make it as easy and effective as possible for them to navigate your website with a mobile device.

3. Don't Forget Social Media.

It is also important to really put a significant emphasis on your social media marketing strategy as well. Regardless of how dry or slow your business is, you will want to be regularly engaging with your prospective and current customers on social media. This is going to allow the search engines to have the social proof that they need in order to really be able to effectively rank your website where it belongs. The more links you have sent back to your website from social media and the more mentions you have, the better your overall ranking is going to be. This is because search engine providers know and understand that social media is a critical point for all end users and the more you are engaging and the more active you are with your potential traffic, the more likely it is that you are effectively providing quality content on a regular basis. Thus, the higher they will want to rank your website.

As you can see, the change to an experience has really changed the way that effective SEO is implemented. Be sure that you are focusing on all of the factors above and you should be able to achieve great results.

Make it a Great Day!

Some very good points Jim we are in a changing environment. As marketers we need to adapt and move with the changes.

Thanks Brother, I always appreciate your comments. Have a Great Weekend!

It's still about amount of visitors. Which = money in most cases. I continually see horriible content ranked way above good content. Site trust? Perhaps it's changing, but Google is a business. They will continue to rank sites that bring in the money. Take a real look at the sites you're up against. Many have terrible content, or nothing but links. Why are they ranked so high?

Googles' Search Algorithm is evolving... I believe you'll see the sites that you're referring to fall by the wayside in the future. Google is placing more emphasis on quality then ever before. We used to be able to get away with 400-500 word articles but now it takes a quality 2000 word article to move up it seems.

SEO is still a combination of moving parts making up one big engine that ranks your website at the top of the SERPs. It's the total picture that makes a difference in Googles' eyes but the Ultimate factor in our business (Affiliate Marketing) is not just ranking but providing the experience for the visitor that will engage them, which in turn (And you' love this) is a ranking factor for SEO.

I agree with you, the amount of visitors has a direct effect on your rankings.

Thanks for your comment. Have a Great Weekend!
