Funny where motivation can hit you
I’ve been struggling with writer’s block and losing some motivation over the last couple of days so last night, I stopped in at a local tavern to be “refreshed”. I was one of maybe 6 customers and there was live music - a solo guitarist with a beautiful voice. After every song, you would hear sporadic clapping, but then everyone would go back to their conversations. This poor young woman was up on stage alone, doing what she loves but did anyone else in the place have any appreciation?
As I thought about that, I was first depressed and felt bad for her. But then as I listened and watched her on the stage, I could see that she was totally into what she was doing. My feeling of depression turned into one of respect. How cool to be that confident in yourself to stand up and perform alone in front of people and not be inhibited by a lack of visible approval.
I don’t know if this will make sense to anyone reading this, but I relay this story because that young girl, who I later found out was 18, gave me (a dinosaur almost 3 times her age) the inspiration I needed to get back at this. She reminded me that success is not immediate. She reminded me that success requires commitment and the ability to persist through difficult situations, whether singing alone to an almost empty bar or starting a new venture in affiliate marketing.
So with renewed inspiration, I am ready to get back to work and have set the following goals for this coming week -
1. Finish revisions to my first website
2. Write 5 articles
3. Welcome 10 new WA members to the community every day
4. Complete certification level 2 and 3
