Learning from 14 years of experience
I was fortunate enough to join Botipton's mentor group this week. It has been sad time and time again that to be successful in whatever you do you should surround yourself with like minded people. This group was hit the ground running, what go-getters!
Our first assignment was right in line with that philosophy, which was to watch Kyle’s First Live Class, Learn From My Last 14 Years. What a wealth of knowledge to follow, You can see it here .
Kyle's class was packed with information about several topics for building a successful business on line. He stressed the importance of the fundamentals, structure, levels of success, competition and affiliate programs.
Here are 5 things I learned from Kyle's class
Structure Your Business for Success
Many people make the mistake of starting out looking at their online project as something they are trying. It is a business and should be treated as such from the start. They should be passionate about it and the quality of products, services and content they provide to their audience.
The core to all business is people, people is what equates to traffic for your website and traffic turns into sales. If people do not see you as reputable business your online efforts will be short lived.
Make a strong foundation for your business by continued learning. This will keep content current and your audience engaged.
Competition
Do not worry about competition, the amount of people who purchase online is constantly and rapidly growing. Continue to follow the basics and become an authority in your niche, focus on the quality and be comparable to what others offer.
Become the competition, as you continue to follow the building fundamentals you will become an authority in your chosen niche. These are likely the people you look at now as your competition, keep in mind at some point they knew nothing about what you see them as an authority about now.
Keywords
To have a successful website requires traffic, search engines such as google and yahoo are on the top of the list used. When your site is indexed in google you are much more likely to have traffic to your site. There are different methods of finding and using keywords to accomplish this.
One way of looking at keywords to use is called low hanging fruit, these are lower competition words or phrases. Programs such as Jaaxy are used to show this information and other rankings.
The low hanging fruit method can be expanded on by using full phrases which may target several keywords at the same time. To clarify this ( not that I would use this because the competition would be very high), lets say I was searching for keyword, I will get several results but if I searched keywords used for internet marketing I will have many more results.
Why People Fail
Online business is no different then any other business, if your chasing the shiny objects thinking you'll get rich over night your likely in for a big disappointment. Don't focus on the money or the biggest commissions. It is much better to retain your audience and have consistent smaller commissions / sales rather then an occasional high commission sale that may or may not happen.
Again the quality of your products, service and content is key to your success. Keep all content and links relevant to your post, page or placement. following the fundamentals of building your business continues to help here. Just as you should always continue to learn on your niche you need to understand the profitability and retention associated with your product. You will be much better off with quality then high commission. A happy customer goes much further then one who is dissatisfied.
Making Sales
Of course, making money has to be a part of every business. There is many ways to generate sales through your website, email marketing, affiliate programs, social media and mass marketing are a few ways. So, why do people not make sales?
Kyle recommends and I agree, do not use too many of these avenues at the same time. This can become very expensive and disappointing. I am sorry to tell you but yes there is even more learning to do on this subject alone although you will find it well worth the effort.
Everything I mentioned here do seem to work together and become a little difficult to separate. Kyles video is well worth watching, maybe you should consider it an assignment as well, learn it and put it to action, you will thank me later.
As always, I wish you the best success.
