I have a big favor to ask.
Dear WA community,
I love you and appreciate all the helping hands we offer each other. I've learned so much from you and received incredible support! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!I have a big favor to ask, though... I know that people do this with the best intentions - to be social and friendly. However, this one action is not helpful and even harmful. Unfortunately, I see this happening often.
Here is what I'm talking about...
When someone posts a question and asks for the community help, this question appears on our dashboard with the number of answers next to it.

We can also click the "unanswered" button to see who is still waiting for their answers and whether we can help. "Unanswered" questions are those with 0 replies.

The "Sorry, I don't know the answer..." or "I'm interested to learn this too. I'll be following..." are not really the answers to the person's question. But once such a comment is posted, "0 replies" turns into "1 reply" and this question appears on the Dashboard to others as answered.
Thank you for your understanding!
Love to all,
~ Julia

A very valid point, Julia.
I hope your request is read by those who do need to read it. Any action to gain a higher rank, as other members have commented! It's just not good enough.
I #heart this post! Those answers are all about getting a high WA ranking. It would be great for members to put the rank aside for answers they don’t know and learn from the actual answers. Thanks for sharing these insights :)
I so totally agree with you. It is disgusting what people will do to get extra rankings. This needs to STOP. You're right - it IS detrimental to the person asking the question.
So tired of seeing people post things just to get ranked. People, if you can't help, don't hurt the person asking by stating that obvious fact!
Thanks for reminding everyone about this. It really needed to be said, and should be repeated monthly or quarterly!

I've only just come across this post, better late than never. You have managed to sum up something that has been niggling away in the back of my mind for quite a while.
For my own syntax catalogue I use the term 'Thread-bombing' used in similar context to 'Photo-bombing'.
So glad I found this, thank you.
You're welcome, glad you like it.
