I would like to create an actual home page where it's not just a bunch of blogs. I've seen quite a few people with really nice home pages on here and was wondering how i can do
Build your home page then in your wordpress dashboard go to Settings/Reading and check A Static Page and select your page as Front page.
The look and capability of your page will also depend on theme capabilities and plugins used. Experiment with some of the themes available here. I personally use Genesis for my themes but they cost.

I think it depends on the theme you have. Some themes support things such as slider, whereas others don't. You'll also get a lot more customisation options if your purchase a premium theme. This is my understanding of it. Hope that helps a bit.

Hello, the usual options for making excerpts in the twenty fourteen theme doesn't work. I tried setting it to summary in the setting/reading area, doesn't work. Please help!
Twenty Fourteen doesn't do it automatically so if you really don't want to change themes then you can manually insert the Read More tag. It will cut off the excerpt where you choose and insert "Continue reading"
Thanks, I'm just going to be using this continue reading method for now until 1. a new/better theme is found 2. I find a long term solution.
If I remember correctly it's Settings, Reading. There's a radio button for either "Full text" or "Summary".
I have already tried that and mentioned it in my question that it does not work. I would like to find an alternative solution.

I would like to change my sticky post positions. Right now the disclaimer is the last post in the row, but I would like it to be the first one. How do I go about doing that? Th
I think you're asking about your menu. Sticky posts are a different subject.
Go to Appearance > Menu then select the menu you want to edit. You'll see the pages/posts underneath each other (not side by side). Click on "Disclaimer" hold down your mouse and drag the entry up into the position you want then let go of your mouse button.
No, it's not part of my menu. I actually mean my sticky post/featured pages. It's just a post, not a page.

Hi,
I'm a little confused by your question. But if you mean you want to create a link in your post, you just have to highlight the text you want to link then click the link icon on the WordPress editor.

What do you mean? Here in WA or in other blogs? Your link in here is working fine. It just looks like text when you're typing but when it gets published it automatically detects that it's a URL and converts it to a link.
Yeah, that's just an example... But i guess it does that automatically i didn't even notice. I'm talking about on my own website.

How to create backlinks on websites?

I don't use google translate much because it's not very accurate. I've been a translator for years and can't say I like their translations. But it's too much work to build two websites right now so I may just do a sub-site. But I'll check out the suggestion. Thanks for the advice
I visit your website and it’s quite confusing that you write both English and Chinese at the same time. It would be better if you write in the language you feel comfortable writing and have a translation plugin to translate your whole website into any languages. Here’s the tutorial for that.
