New goal for 1 year from now!

I have a new goal for the new year, and it's a big one. Before the back story, here's the main line; By this time next year, I want to be making enough so that I can chose when I work, and when I don't, especially during the winter.

Now the story. I have two jobs, one at a doctors office that is the typical 9-5 Monday through Friday, and then a part time at CVS as a pharmacy tech. The CVS job is every Saturday and Sunday, with a Monday or Wednesday thrown in there for good measure.

My usual shift today would have been a 1-6, not a long shift, and usually one I enjoy, but today is different. This morning we've been getting about 2 feet of snow, and like a good working, I wanted to make sure that they had enough staffing and see if they even needed me. My parents kept telling me I was crazy, and I shouldn't be trying to drive in this weather.

I knew that they were right, and I struggled with the decision all day, should I call out, should I not. I called around 12 to see if they needed me still (hoping they would say no!), and they told me to call back around 2 and see if they would still be open. They also said that everyone else had called out already, and it was just the pharmacist and one tech working.

So for the next 2 hours I debated calling and just saying I couldn't come. Around 1 they officially closed the roads, and my mind was made up.

I called at 2, and found out that they were closed! Thank God! I didn't have to deal with calling out. But that feeling, that debate that I had going on in my head all day, that's something I don't want to deal with again.

So back to my goal. This time next year, I want to be making enough that when a storm comes, I can sit in my house drinking hot choclate, and working my own schedule.

Or even better.... BE IN FLORIDA! :) Here's to the next year!
