Winning the Mind Game
One of the things that keeps me moving forward, and helps me remain inspired to continue to believe that I have a successful business in the making is taking notes from those who actually are...well... successful. So I have made it a point to follow a few bloggers (inside and outside of Wealthy Affiliate) in the internet world that are having tangible successes in an effort to model their efforts that bring them success.
One such blog I keep tabs on is Pinch of Yum. Being a foodie of sorts I came across the site when searching recipes however I think the site found me for bigger reasons. The cool thing about this blog is the fact that they are totally transparent about their earnings. Every month they do a "traffic and income" post. Their month of March 2015 net profit was $25,364.51. Yup, you read it correctly....$25,364.51. To clarify they are on year five of blogging.
I took away some super nuggets from this particular post as Lindsay shares "Five Lessons I've Learned In Five Years Of Blogging." This is the stuff I try to digest the most because the bottom line is - there is no money without the mindset to create it in the first place. She, just like you and I, struggles with self doubt at times but most importantly, she has learned how not to let it defeat her. For some great tips on winning the mind game and getting out of your own way check out her post.
If we do what is necessary we will succeed :)

Jess...
I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad I came across your blog here.
I have been looking for insight like this. Thanks for sharing both the motivation as well as the nudge to visit pinch of yum's site.
Can you share with me any of the other sites you follow?
I am in week 3 of working on some ideas that have been bouncing around only in my heads for years....and now I'm using as much of my "free time" as possible to get this up and running. Not only does your post show me the potential...but it also encourages me to keep plugging. Thanks so much!

Hey Bryan,
I'm happy this resonated with you :) I've only been at this about 4 months now, normally I learn things decently quick but this is my first real attempt at learning the technical aspect of online marketing.
I think that's why I am going at this slowly and methodically. That being said, being a part of such a large community of individuals - many of whom go at this much faster - sometimes leads me to playing mind games with myself (am I doing enough fast enough?) so it is always great to hear that we all deal with the same "voices in our heads" (even super successful people) and we CAN beat them at the game! Encourages me :)
You mentioned working on your site in your "free time" so I imagine you must be busy - only advice I can offer is this quote I keep in mind "It doesn't matter how slow you go just as long as you don't stop." Don't ever stop plugging....we deserve this as much as anyone!
Honestly Pinch of Yum is one I follow most regularly but Pioneer Woman is another one, Healthy Crush, Andrea Beaman, The Whole Journey to name a few. Of course many of the tops here at WA. Hope this helps!
Jess,
Awesome...thanks for sharing back. Uh...you are right on with assuming I am busy busy busy. And because of that, I am taking to heart your approach...which is the methodical approach. I have set a goal to spend 5 hours a week minimum...and I usually check the hours of a goal sheet...allowing me to stay on top of my effort.
I have been at this 3 weeks now...and even though I feel overwhelmed (primarily because as I get deeper into this, I realize more and more about it...and how much more there truly is to learn and apply)....but, knowing that I have a step by step process...and knowing that success i available (youve already seen some!) it is motivating for sure!
I look forward to building this out...and sharing stories back and forth.
I wish you much prosperity! You are well on your way!
