Thanks a lot. I was really just writing and because I am not
passionate about the topic I was not very enthused. I will rewrite with my passion niche which is more along the line of fashion. I know Fashion is wide but I will search my head to determine a great niche. Maybe you can help me with that.
Thanks in advance. :)

With a face like that, I knew you had a passion for fashion. Those eyes and cheek bones scream'"HIGH Maintenance. lol

Does any computer have an advantage over the other? Currently I have a Dell laptop which belongs to my job. I want to ensure I have all the right tools to begin with for myself
I think Fran did a great job of explaining below - as well as everyone else. You should not need to download anything onto your computer. I use my work laptop, my own laptop and my cell phone to post and create. You should be fine. Other than needing a place to be able to pull images that you will want to put onto your site and posts, there will be no need to download anything. Maybe consider purchasing a USB key if you don't have one so you can save images onto it for easy accessibility!
I understand your question and the underlying concern about downloading something to your company's computer.
In general, the answer is: no, there is no requirement. But there are some things that you may want to take advantage of.
Once you upgrade to premium (If you so elect), a ton of additional training is open to you. That includes live webinars, which are conducted through the "Go To Meeting" platform (by Citrix). These are not required; and they are also recorded, so that you can view them here on the site— without the Go To Meeting download—within 24 hours. Many companies use Go To Meeting anyway; so this one may not be an issue. The advantage of attending the live webinars is that we can question the trainer as he goes along.
All of the Wordpress themes and plugins are downloaded or imported directly into the hosted web site you create. You _can_ download those to your computer. Certainly you shouldn't need to, unless you were getting something obscure, that was not listed on the http://wordpress.org site itself. (However, it's risky to get a plugin that Wordpress hasn't vetted; so such downloads aren't advised.)
You also may want to use some images from various public domain or sites specializing CC0 - licensed works. CC0 licensing allows for free commercial use without attribution (Yea!). These would have to be downloaded to your computer. Images are not software; but it's worth mentioning. Again, there are even ways around this—if you upload to a cloud drive, for example.

Very detailed help Fran. Thanks a lot! Some of theh terms I do not know yet but i'll get there. You seem to know a lot too. Love that! Keep it up!
You just joined WA, so some of these things you will learn as you go step by step through the Getting Started Course. (My tip: do and check off all the tasks in one lesson, before moving to the next.) The rest, I'm happy to help you with when the time comes. The whole community will help, too. You're not alone in this, Jesse.

This is actually our main business. In the certification ccourse I don't remember anything That You MUST download. I have a Dell laptop and when I worked for CONOCOPHILLIPS there were 10000 little Dell laptops. You should be fine. You can always store things on Dropbox or whatever Cloud software that you have to save it from taking up space on your laptop. Especially if it's a company laptop. We can usually get Hardware cheaper than most people let us know and we will see if we can help you no charge.
