Back on Track
Hello! I've been a WA member for close to a year now. I have to admit that I haven't been real active the last few months, but I'm hoping to change that.
I got discouraged and I believe it was because I was spending too much time researching and joining affiliate networks, which distracted me from writing posts.
The problem was that as soon as I joined Rakuten (previously LinkShare) and ClickBank and CJ Affiliate Network and ShareaSale, all these affiliate programs started bombarding me with offers to advertise all kinds of companies on my website with banners, etc, which really isn't the intent of Wealthy Affiliate training, I'm learning.
I would advise new members to sign up with only one (two at most) affiliate programs or networks for the first year or so, and instead focus on completing the certification training and writing content.
So I'm going back to writing content and just linking to a few products I want to sell and I've eliminated most of my banner ads.
I think keepings things simple is best.
I'm also watching Jay's four-part training on building a niche site - some of the best training I've seen on here.
So I'm getting back on track, and I'll update you again in a few months.

Hey Jennifer! Congrats on getting back on track! I appreciate the advise. It's very helpful to those of us just starting out. There's so much information and so much to learn... Sometimes I feel like I'm drinking from a fire hose!

Thanks, SM! My advice is to follow the certification training and not even sign up for affiliate programs until you have a lot of content written and a pretty good idea of the focused niche you want to write about. Mine has been "healthy living", which isn't nearly focused enough. The problem is I'm interested in many health related topics so I keep jumping around LOL! I understand it takes some people a year or more to figure out what niche they want to promote. Good luck!
