Update On My Journey
Lately, my focus here at Wealthy Affiliate has been on building with intention instead of rushing. I’ve been laying foundations, staying consistent, and allowing clarity to lead rather than pressure. I recently connected a new Pinterest account to my website and have been learning how to support long-term traffic in a way that feels aligned with my goals.
I also published a new article that reflects where I am personally and creatively right now. Exploring emotional wellness, awareness, and the importance of listening to the body rather than pushing through exhaustion or pain. Writing it reminded me that healing and growth are rarely linear, and that meaningful change often begins with small, honest shifts in perspective.
This season has been quieter, but purposeful. I’m grateful for the space to learn, write, and build at a pace that feels sustainable and for a community that understands that progress doesn’t always need to be loud to be real.
Have you ever noticed that the seasons where you grow the most aren’t the loud ones?
🤍Jenn

Hi.
"To conquer the world, first conquer the mind."
"Have you ever noticed that the seasons where you grow the most aren’t the loudest ones?" -Jen Bates
Marcus Aurelius + Guru Nanak
While Marcus Aurelius's Meditations are personal reflections on Stoic philosophy, and Guru Nanak's teachings form the basis of a new world religion, discussions on platforms like the Sikh Philosophy Network and Reddit often note that both thinkers ultimately point towards a life of virtue, inner peace, and a profound sense of duty to a greater universal order. They both encourage focusing solely on what is within one's control (one's own mind and actions) and cultivating a strong, virtuous character.
Both philosophies emphasize the importance of looking inward to find truth and strength. Marcus Aurelius speaks of keeping one's "own divinity pure and standing strong," and the Stoic focus on exploring the inner self resonates with the Sikh concept of realizing the divine within, often summarized by the maxim, "To conquer the world, first conquer your mind."
o Stoicism teaches the "discipline of desire" (or lived physics): joyfully accepting everything that happens, as it is part of a benevolent, rational cosmic plan that one cannot control. The goal is to align oneself with this natural flow.
o Sikhism has a similar concept called Hukam, which refers to the divine order or will of God… letting go of the ego and the need to control the inevitable.
o Stoicism emphasizes the "discipline of action" (or lived ethics): ensuring all actions are undertaken for the common good of humankind.
o Sikhism promotes selfless service and sharing as core tenets of a religious life, stressing moral responsibility and working for the welfare of all people, regardless of background.
· Equality and Truthfulness: Guru Nanak famously taught that "He who regards all men as equals is religious" and that true religion lies not in ritual but in seeing the same divinity in everyone. Marcus Aurelius similarly valued living life with "truthfulness and fair dealing, and in charity even with the false and unjust.
My head is here these days.
Thank you for your post.
@PMindra
PMindra, thank you for this. It truly resonates. I appreciate how you connected Stoicism and Sikhism around inner mastery, acceptance, and service beyond the self. The idea of aligning with what is, whether described as Logos or Hukam, feels very present for me right now.
When you said “my head is here these days,” I felt that deeply. Mine is too. Thank you for meeting the post with such thoughtful reflection.
@jenbates
Long term growth is never linear, Jenn, and real growth occurs over time and in a variety of different scenarios.
Quieter but purposeful is good, and I firmly believe in looking back occasionally just to see how far we've come.
Rick
You seem to be doing everything just right - with intention. I have started following Jay's training for building traffic to the website through Pinterest. I am still a couple of weeks behind but am trying to catch up.
Isabella
Thank you, Isabella. I really appreciate that. Intention has been guiding me more than anything lately. Pinterest is a great focus, and being a little behind is completely okay. Progress at your own pace still counts. Wishing you clarity and momentum as you keep going.

Hi Jen!
I appreciate your post in which you simply tell it like it is no fluff nothing but your honest experience that you are going through. This is so powerful because others can relate to what you are going through. Indeed, when we shift our perspective this is when change begins to happen. Let your work be silence and your success will be loud!
Wishing you the very best!
Kind rgards,
Nichola
