New Member - Feeling Overwhelmed

Am I the only one?

I signed up at WA late December. I was very excited when I started the training. Everything sounded promising and the training modules were very easy to understand. Today however, I am feeling overwhelmed.

Rank at WA

First, I can't help but notice that my ranking here at WA keeps going down. My network is not building, it's depressing to see. I feel I am working as hard as I can to get the hang of things but I feel I just cannot keep up. I have been spending at least a couple hours a day on my training and website and at least 5 hours on weekends. I figured since I only have limited available time that I'd focus more on finishing the training and building my website. I know you earn credits when you post, comment, produce training materials, etc. But I just don't see how can someone new like me is able to juggle, trying to find the niche, understanding target customers, building a rich content website and at the same time, comment and do training here in WA as well. I know people in this community are great helpful people but I am wondering how others are able to do it and not me?

Ask and Offer Website Feedback

Okay my website is up but I am not comfortable sharing it to the public yet as to me it is not a "customer ready" website yet. I don't have enough information in there and I definitely don't have at least 1000 words in the blog and it is definitely not keyword rich content. I wanted to offer website feedback so I could check off this checklist. So I went to the page but again, I just ended up looking like this, completely blank. I just could not put together a helpful enough feedback other than the general "it looks great". Another failure on my side!

Have any of you experienced this when you first started?

Jen, we have all been there. Many of us have family and other commitments, like fulltime jobs. Please don't be so hard on yourself. Remember this is not a race, this is about you learning a new set of skills that will serve you for the rest of your life...and help you build a business that can serve your family for the rest of your life.

Anytime you need help with your site or a lesson doesn't make sense, reach out to us here at the Community and we will help. You have a team now that can help you. Not too many startup businesses have that luxury.

WA rankings come and go. Businesses are forever!

Hang in there, you will get through this and make it to the other side. And remember...Breathe. :)

P.S. This might help too:

I thing many of us did. Don’t worry about WA ranking ... that just says how much your are interacting with everyone. Keep working on lesson til you get it. There is no time frame. You will get it.

Jen we have all been overwhelmed at some stage of the process. My advice would be
1. Take a day away from it altogether
2. Take each lesson slowly and surely and if you don’t understand something just ask the community.
3. Use your first site as a trial and error template and don’t worry about niche sire reviews
4. When writing just let it flow and when finished just go back and edit even after a nights sleep. 600 good words is worth more than 1000 of waffle.
5. As you work through training think of the 2 or 3 things you are most passionate about outside family and work toward narrowing this down to one l
6. By the time you have done this your training will be falling into place, Larry the two together and you are on your way

Every best wish
Trevor

Thank you!

In my opinion Ranking at WA is not the most important thing but getting your business started is, so less focus on ranking and more focus on your website, you have made a start and that is good continue doing this. wishing you all the best.

Totally agree with Ruthlyn... Building your website and your business is the most important!

Thank you so much. That's what I thought too that I should focus on finishing the training first and building my website.

Don't worry, I can promise you it will be fine. At the beginning, there is so many information, we don't know where to go, and I totally understand what you feel.

Let me tell you something. Remember when you were at school, you learned many many things during many years, but maybe you didn't feel as much overwhelmed than right now because it was all structured for you, you didn't have to deal with the "where to start" or "what should I do now".

Here at Wealthy Affiliate, you're left alone (not totally), in the sense that YOU decide what YOU do and when you do it. It is a lot more difficult to deal with all the new things because there are so many of them!

So, let me give you a quick tip. Continue the training like you were doing, that's perfect. It will bring you the basics and what you need to start something solid. Take one step at a time. It's okay if your website is not "public ready", it's part of the process. You are at the best place to ask for feedback even if it's not ready in your sense.

Me too at the beginning I didn't know how others could do it. I felt I was losing my time but no, I was learning the first steps, I was jumping in. I checked other members' websites, I took notes, I asked questions, etc.

It's your first month, give you a chance. ;)

You got this my friend!

Audrey

Thank you! I felt I don't got it together. I have picked a niche then later change my mind about it as I don't know what to blog next. I guess I am in a confused state. lol

So on your first website you just had 1 blog and shared it for feedback already?

Maybe I waited to have 2-3 blog posts but that shouldn't be too long to do :)
