On hold

Okay this is my first blog. Time check 9:25 PM and have been on hold for 20 minutes on the phone. I thought this would be a good opportunity to post my first blog while listening to Mozart music playing on my ears.

The airline

I booked a trip for our family getaway in Southeast Asia this summer. Tonight I received an email from the airline company that our flight coming home has been canceled and they are moving us to a different flight schedule. At first I was shocked and thought "How could they do this, what If I've booked everything already, are they going to refund me the cost to re book the rest of my plans, and on and on.... I haven't really made any plans yet or booked anything else for the trip other than with this Airline company so I was still at a good spot.

Other opinions save the day

Talking to somebody sometimes can really save the day. This happened to be my husband but this could be a friend, a neighbor, partner, etc. I told my husband the story and he just mentioned things that I would have not thought before. As I was talking to my husband I started seeing the situation as an opportunity and became excited to change many things on our flight and ask for any perks or upgrades.

Domestic flights

Big lesson learned here. When you are booking international flights don't get too excited on the good deals you see online and forgets to consider the domestic flights that you have to take in order to get to your final destination. Well, I booked a flight that will land at the international airport at 7PM, guess what the last domestic flight flying to my final destination is 5PM. That means? Yes, you guessed it, I'll be stuck at the airport for one night waiting for the domestic flight for the following day.

Cancelled flight saved the day

Now I am very happy that the airline company canceled my flight schedule. Now I have the option to completely cancel my flight for a full refund or change my flight schedule and be smarter this time. I picked the later of course as no one can beat the price that I originally paid when booking this ticket.

Time check

11PM, completed re booking my tickets, got upgraded to a better seats and cheers for my first blog! :)
