Good morning Jeff,

Thank you for your blog post. I trust that you are doing well.

That's a good detailed guide on how to create a Facebook page!

Just a few words of warning regarding Facebook pages.

I remember when Facebook pages first came out and were really good and quite powerful. It could be a great way to promote your brand, especially as the name of your page really represents the brand.

I know a few years ago when Facebook was promoting its paid advertising, they mentioned that they wouldn't show Facebook pages as much. I admit that this was some years ago and that things are continually changing. But I don't know how effective Facebook pages are.

I know of someone who had a Facebook page with three-quarters of a million followers; he spent 25% of his time on Facebook and the other 75% of his time on his website. After checking his Google analytics he realised that Facebook was virtually sending him zero traffic to his website.

So after that, he just posted his blog posts to Facebook but didn't really respond to the community. The good thing was that he was able to put the rest of the time into his website. Once again, I appreciate that things are changing all the time, Jeff.

Recently, I lost one of my Facebook accounts; I went to log in and was told that my account had been disabled. I hardly use Facebook at all, and yet my account was disabled. The only problem was that I had two active Facebook business pages that are still up and running and yet I cannot get to them as they have disabled my account!

I have received no warning or email from Facebook. And trying to get the account back just takes you around in circles. As my Webmaster said many years ago, before Facebook became popular, focus on your website, as you never know when these other networks will take you down! That is so true!

Have a great day.

Roy

Thank you, Roy

I appreciate you sharing your experience with Facebook. I am not using this platform any longer due to it just was not working for me.

I found managing a group worked much better for me than a business page.

I also experienced the same thing with one of my accounts on Facebook being disabled and they never replied to my request why that happened

Jeff

It's a pleasure, Jeff.

It's good to share different ideas with members as this is how we all learn. It's interesting to find out what works and what doesn't work!

That's interesting about Facebook groups, Jeff. I have never created a Facebook group, however, I do belong to a few groups.

It seems like quite a few members on the platform have had the same issue with Facebook, Jeff. It's really not clever.

Have a great day.

Roy

We do help one another so much by sharing in our posts.

I am not a fan of Facebook myself, but many members might be interested in giving this platform a try

Jeff

Definitely, Jeff!

Yes, I hear you, big time! Sometimes, it seems that members have great success with certain platforms, whereas I haven't had any success with the same platform, if you know what I mean!

Roy

Thanks Jeff, for this reminder on how to get started with Facebook.

Jeff

Thanks jeffBrown4, my question is,can I use my existing page?,or am rather create a new one ?

Hello Samuel

It is up to you if you wish to use your personal page or create a business page. I would not want to use my page with my friends and family.

Some people create a personal page to use as a business page. It is up to you which one you choose to use.

Jeff

Facebook requires that you first create a persinal profile page bedore you can create a business profile page.

Many people use their personal profile page for socializing, and use their business page for, well, business.

By doing so, have separate personal and business pages, you now have 2 ways to contact people, personally and professionally.

Sure, you can also use your personal page as your business page as well.

Rudy

Frederik
