Dawg Solutions My Third Website Completed

Hello WA Family,

I accomplished my ultimate goal creating three websites all helping older adults, but each website provides help in different ways.

What have you been working on? Please share what projects you are working on or have completed, maybe you are stuggling with a WordPress theme or like myself a email marketing service?

Dawg Solutions

Dawg Solutions is a gentle, education-first website I recently launched for seniors who are caring for aging dogs. As both a senior myself and the human to an older dog named Aussie, I wanted to create a calm, reassuring space that helps older adults understand mobility changes, comfort needs, and emotional shifts in senior dogs โ€” without fear, guilt, or pressure to spend money.

The site focuses on practical guidance, simple routines, and the deep bond that forms when an older person and an older dog care for each other. Itโ€™s not about products or hype โ€” itโ€™s about companionship, patience, and making the later years more comfortable for both ends of the leash.

Dawg Solutions is also part of my larger mission of building senior-friendly, trust-based websites that educate first and monetize second โ€” something I know many WA members care deeply about.

Why MailerLite And I Are Parting Ways

I also want to share a quick lesson learned around MailerLite, especially for members who are just choosing an email service.

On paper, MailerLite looks like a great option โ€” affordable, popular, and often recommended for beginners. I chose it for that reason. But in practice, I ran into ongoing issues that slowed my momentum instead of supporting it: confusing automation triggers, approval delays, unexpected limitations, and a setup process that felt unnecessarily stressful โ€” especially when managing multiple senior-focused sites.

For me, email marketing should feel simple, reliable, and predictable. Instead, I found myself troubleshooting more than creating โ€” which is the opposite of what most of us want when building content-driven sites.

This isnโ€™t a warning to avoid MailerLite at all costs โ€” it works well for many people โ€” but it is a reminder to carefully test any email platform before fully committing. What looks โ€œbeginner-friendlyโ€ in marketing doesnโ€™t always feel beginner-friendly in real-world use.

If thereโ€™s one takeaway:
choose the tool that supports your workflow, not the one thatโ€™s just most commonly recommended.

Iโ€™m currently reassessing my email setup so it better fits how I actually build and publish โ€” and that lesson alone was worth sharing with fellow WA members.

Any comments or feedback Welcomed

Jeff

Hi Jeff, congratulations on hitting that milestone. Three senior-focused sites is no small thing, and I like how clear your mission is: educate first, monetize second. Dawg Solutions also made more sense to me because it is built around companionship and calm guidance, not pressure or hype. That is exactly the kind of tone older adults trust.

And thank you for sharing the MailerLite experience in a balanced way. Many of us learn tools the hard way, through friction, delays, and lost momentum. Your takeaway is solid: pick the tool that fits your workflow, not the one everyone recommends. What email platform are you considering next, and what is the one feature you need it to do perfectly for your three sites?

Hello John

I am more than happy with my progress since September, with three sites built in that time frame is more than I expected.

MailerLite was a disappointment since they claimed to be beginner-friendly, I have not decided on a new service or plugin at this time. I want something simple to use without wasting so much time setting up campaigns.

Some members share AWeber, GetResponse, and one member raves about the plugin MailPoet. Anther member loves using a plugin " ice Gram" so I am going to learn more about these before making any decisions

Hey, Jeff. I used the first two in the list, and MailerLite. The only thing that made me leave ML was their new requirement to add a verified domain, and the process was techy. Maybe this is where you got stuck.

For now, I use Mailchimp, which is very simple for me to use.

John

I did use MailChimp in the past which I liked using. It was very simple for me to create campaigns without too many problems, some members told me MailChimp has a habit of banning affiliate marketers.

How do you avoid being banned?

The forms with MailerLIte were not working for me for delivery, and my campaigns I had to redo them over and over before they were automated. I was using the free plan which has limitations as well, I just was not techy enough maybe for that service.

Hey, Jeff. I don't get banned, at least not yet. I don't have that experience with any of these tools I have used and I am still using and recommend. Yes, MailerLite stopped some features in their newer version. It used to allow automations for free accounts.

Your website looks very nice, and what a beautiful dog! I bookmarked your site as I may be able to link to it from my pet website. ๐Ÿ™‚

Cool Willow that you have a pet website, I might be able to link to your website as well since mine is focusing on dogs and dog owners. My website is an educational website for now, so I have no products or services that I am promoting.

Hello,

How are you doing the day before Christmas? Many WA members will be taking some time off between Christmas and New Years.

Not me so much, I will be working on articles as normal. Possibly get a newsletter service setup for all three websites.

Enjoy din din with the family,

Jeff

Way to go, Jeff.

Thanks for the heads up.

How did you do today with your website theme?

Jeff

3

I didn't get to it.

I had a SNAFU happen with Windows Copilot and wrote a blog about it.

It is something to be aware of with AI.

JD

3

That alright JD

You got something productive done anyway. Cool you wrote about your experience with Windows Copilot, that is very motivating of you to use your experience to write content for your website.

Smart move JD
Jeff

Thanks, Jeff.

It might make it to my website, but I wrote it as a warning to WA members. Check it out.

JD

It might make an awesome article to publish on our website, you can share your own experience which will make it unique.

Think it over
