New Smart Meter to Measure Electric Use?
Hi friends.
I got a letter from my electrical provider stating that they would be installing a new “Smart Meter” to replace the old analog one.
Does anyone have one of these already installed?
I can’t find much good about them online. But there are horror stories of people’s electrical bill doubling or more. And health concerns because of the waves they omit.
I’m unclear on whether I can refuse. Some said in PA it is mandatory.
I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences.

Hi Jeannie:). This is funny that you asked this question tonight! I just finished writing a paper about climate change with one of my students, and some of the research we found said that these Smart Meters are supposed to help reduce global warming! Let's hope they really do!
Blessings:)

Hi Suzy. I’m afraid I have some trouble believing global warming let alone that smart meters will help it. Lol. Thanks for your input. :)
I don’t think I would like them taking control of my appliances. But I feel better about the change since reading the comments here. Thank you. :)

Hey Jean, I am from the UK and these so-called Smart Meters are relatively new, but hitting the tv's recently with their advertisements and so I did some research just over a week ago.
Very disturbing what I found out and you seriously need to think about this because these aren't smart at all. The name suggests this but that is why the name was changed to "Smart Meters"
Please do your research!!! Smart meters, do you have one and are you satisfied? Mick
Thanks Mick. I will check it out; but I may not have a choice.
Governments tell us that these smart meters are great, and there to help the consumer, but I'm inclined to not believe anything that governments tell us.
The only ones who are going to benefit from this "Not Smart" so-called technology are the governments.
Edward Snowden the NSA whistleblower came out and disclosed what the NSA was up to, and nothing gets done about it.
This is just another step in that direction where eventually all your household products will be connected and could be monitored.
I mean mobile phones and smart tv all have a unique ip address so anybody can listen in.
The same will apply to all electronic household goods.
All to do with profiling!
Set that aside if you can and the other issues are higher bills, but more importantly your health.
Have a nice weekend.
Mick
You have a nice weekend too. :)
