What I Learned About Consulting Today
What I've learned today with clients...in any business...is that motivating them to take action and make changes is much more important than the knowledge to be in the field. The reason I say this is in any business? I was a personal trainer in fitness 3 years ago and I've transitioned into marketing/new venture consulting. The knowledge is there and can easily be given to new clients. Creative ideas can always be used. Tying the components together in a strategic plan can also be done.
Getting them to trust you, get over their fears, and move forward with the right changes?
Nobody ever said to force the horse's head in the bucket to drink, but enticing the horse to drink is definitely a skill within itself.

I'm sure your personal training skills translate very well into these new coaching skills. It must be very rewarding to see others make meaningtul progress from your interventions. `Shell
Thanks Shell. Motivation and developing a strategy did translate. The great part is certainly seeing a client accept an idea that they've wanted to do when all you do is lay it out for them to take the next step.
