Today is the Day! (maybe)
Hi Guys! This one will be a short one and is really on the personal side but I couldn't contain my excitement - I had to share!
Today is the day, maybe lol. As some of you know, I am going to be a first time grandmother. My daughter's due date is today! I have actually been on the edge of my seat glued to my phone for about the past week. From personal experience, I know some babies are too eager to get into the world and don't always wait until the due date.
My daughter decided she wanted to come stay with me while she's on maternaty leave and I'm thrilled to have her. I gave up my bedroom for the time being and moved in with my 2 youngest sons so my private room could be set up for my daughter and the little guy. Just looking around in that room with the tiny bassenet and tiny diapers all ready to receive him is almost too much to handle lol.
I think all my natural medicine and herbal methods have rubbed off on my daughter since she is determined to do everything naturally when the time comes - I keep telling her she'll change her mind real fast when push comes to shove (literally lol) but I suppose that is yet to be seen.
I can't wait to meet my new grandson. It will be the wildest feeling holding a tiny creation who comes from one of my own creations. She was my first born and I can still remember that day with great detail even though it was almost 25 years ago. How fast time flies!
Anyhow, thanks for reading and putting up with my rambling excitement! I will let everyone know when the time actually comes and we all finally get to meet the newest member of our growing family :)
As always, All the best!
Shannon
*** UPDATE 10/10 ***
My daughter had her final prenatal appt yesterday afternoon. I guess the baby hasn't been moving as much as he used to for about the last week so the doctor advised she head over to the hospital to be induced, just to be on the safe side.
She insists on doing everything natural with no drugs (thankfully) so the induction process has been slow. I spent about 6 hours over at the hospital with her and when not much was happening, I went home to my other children about 10pm.
At about 630 this morning, the midwife broke her water - so it appears TODAY is the day :)
I will be headed back to the hospital as soon as I get my other kids off to school and finish my small job this morning. With any luck I'll have some good news to share sometime this afternoon!
Thank you everyone for your well wishes and support. The community at WA really is an extended family :)
*** UPDATE ***
For all those who asked for updates -
Well it's official, there's finally a new addition to the family :) My first grandson was born about 5:30 this afternoon after 26 hours - he weights 7lb 1.5oz and is 20 inches long and has lots of brown hair. He's SOOO cute!! :D
Thank you to all those who kept us in your prayers and sent your blessings! Much appreciated!

Well! Shannon there is going be great excitement when you hold that bundle of joy in your arms. I loved holding my grandchildren when they were born. They give off such love and warmth and you realize there is a divine presence at work..
You will stare and stare at him and he will clasp your finger so tight and you will have tears in your eyes because it will bring back memories of your first born. Its a joyous occasion, I wrote a blog on being grandparents feel free to read.

That is so exciting Shannon. Having a grandchild is so different from having your children. It's amazing and so wonderful. The bonds you create with him now will last a lifetime.
Enjoy every minute.
Thank you :) I never envisioned being a grandmother while still having younger children myself but I suppose I should have seen that coming with such a large age span in my kids. It will be interesting for sure!
With a grandchild, more so than with your own child, you rediscover childhood. They keep you young and enjoying life.
Excitement is contagious I guess lol - the first thing my 9 year old son said this morning was, "Will we get to meet the baby today?"

I know how it feels Shannon and I was right there with you in your excitement I felt the same when my grandson came into the world at 10 lb black hair. such a beautiful baby boy, it is now 16 years later and I still feel the same way.
I have had the privilege of bringing him up because his Mother is single and is mentally delayed from birth. So I became a mother again and have savoured every moment with the good and the bad it has been a privilege even with the hard times.
I count my blessing I count them One by one I count the many blessing that the Lord has done.
Always a better way Linda
