Guys Don't Sweat the Small Stuff. Do things that matter.
Recently it occured to me, I spent a considerable amount of time making my site look the way I want it. Researching a nice domain name. Yes I finally managed to get both, a website that looks visually pleasing. At least to me.... and I got an awesome domain name....
But really, don't waste too much time on small little things like Optimisation of design and conversions if you hardly have any traffic to convert.
What I currently consider productive as of right now... (I'm no expert feel free to express your opinions and correct me)
- Researching content to write.
- Doing competitive analysis research
- Learning strategies to promote your content
- Doing Content creation research
- Writing high quality content
- Writing decent quality filler content for visitors if site is new.
- Learning strategies to build resource content that authorities will want to link to.
- Learning outreach strategies and actually executing them
Let's be honest guys all of the above is hard to do. Especially at first. But I'm pretty sure it gets easier the more we try.

Thanks Jason, great bullet points. I'm just starting and I'm having difficulty making choices. There is so much to choose from and I have a problem with always having make the "right" choice instead of just moving forward and keeping things simple as I learn.
Yeah I Guess everyone has to first learn what they need to prioritise. As a newbie, we're basically lost in a jungle of knowledge.
Also it is further complicated due to there are a lot of incentives for other already skilled marketers to point you in the wrong direction to make a buck.
Are you talking about skilled marketers within WA or outside pointing you in the wrong direction? Any examples what not to do?
not so much what not to do, more what you can do... do some white hat link building to build your site.
There are tons of lists of how u can white hat build outside.
