User Friendly Sites
So, a while back, I had Kyle personally review my website. He offered nice feedback as he liked the premise and delivery of my site. He also gave me some constructive criticism/advice which I took and now my site is performing better. What was the advice?
I had a big ol' graphic in the header that was overshadowing my content. Although it looked nice, people had to scroll to see my content. Needless to say, I got rid of it.
Now, when I'm offering Feedback to other sites, I basically see the same thing. I just reviewed a site whose content was awesome. But had a slider and you had to click on arrows multiple times to find what you were looking for. The content wasn't easily available and it was frustrating to find his products.
Plus, the site had waaaay too many Amazon affiliate image + text links plastered on the page(s). That's a big no-no too.
Sliders are OK, but if your visitor has to spend vast amounts of time looking for something, they will probably leave. You want your site to be as easily navigable as possible. If your visitor is looking for something, then you best be sure they find it on your site. Because they may find it on another site, and you just left money on the table.
Please visit your sites often. Ask yourself if this is a site you'd want to spend time with. If you think your site is hard to navigate, then your visitor will find it almost IMPOSSIBLE to navigate. You know your site, your visitor does not.
So my advice would be to make your content easily available. Remember, if they can't find it, or if it's too much trouble to find what they're looking for, they will leave. They will go to a competitor's site. And you will lose out on affiliate commissions. So please avoid this mistake as it could be costing you money!
Until next time, Cheers!
