Another one of those ignorant people!

I bought an iPhone 4s on a plan and had been using it for about six months when I dropped it. Sorry, I didn't drop it; I simply tripped when I was holding it and it landed face down. In shock I stood with my heart wrenched in my throat to see the outcome. I had cracked the screen massively. Honestly I almost cried! I loved my iPhone. I had a proper cover on it before I had received a promotional cover with the purchase of alcohol. I decided to put the promo cover on thinking it was trendy. Soon to discover it did not protect my iPhone!

I am now sitting here with a cracked screen waiting to obtain a glass splinter in my thumb. I’m thinking of putting a screen protector on. I have searched where to fix it and checked costs and found the lowest. I think I am still in shock to be as stupid as I was to have changed the cover. I am now the unfortunate owner of a cracked iPhone. I feel stupid to admit it, as I have always been the one to make sure my phone had ‘Insurance’ or a quality ‘protection case’.
Watching others show me their cracked screens I was sure I would never come across this same issue because I was very fond of my iPhone and was sure I would not have this same issue EVER.

Cracking, damaging or even losing a mobile phone has been increasing along with the prices of these technology devices. I am seeing more and more youth have these problems. Glass screens? Come on. Doesn't sound right to me. Just last year New Year I watched a guy lose his iPhone on the beach! Don’t let this happen! Honestly when I watched him anxiously trying to find it before the tide came in... It was horrible. A start to the New Year he definitely won’t forget. A girl came to our house, bent over to pat our dogs and her phone simply slipped out of her pocket and straight into the dog’s water bowl!

I can admit my cracked screen was pure accident but I have witnessed many people damage or ruin their phones due to consumption of alcohol and believing their phone can fly and/or swim. Losing your phone or ‘misplacing’ it is even worse if your phone is not security safe and is fallen into the wrong hands.

My Phone is amazing don’t get me wrong, it just isn't tough unless you have a protector to cover the whole thing. I've witnessed children as young as five years old grab my Phone from the table and enter Games and Apps. I wonder how they do it when I'm still teaching my Mother how to view my contacts! Watching a child as young as five hold my phone is like watching your phone sitting right on the edge of a table. You know you should move it to a safer place!

Just a quick blog to let you all know about the consequences of youth having technology devices yet the prices keep increasing, and there is no upgrade of security, protection or awareness of accidents to happen with an expensive device as such.

It is not just youth. Purchased an all in one Acer desktop and it was knocked over on day 3 thus busting the screen right down the middle. The unit is so new a replacement screen does not exist yet. :( Lessons in life never end.

Oh dear! Now that would of been extremely frustrating!

Thanks for the heads up but, I too a have been a victim of playing diver dan with my phone. Same kind of thing as your friend, my phone was in my shirt pocket, I was putting salt in the water softener and it slipped out of my pocket, fell in the water tank and sunk. As it did it lit up as it screamed it's way to it's watery death. Thankfully my ins covered it.

Im glad your insurance covered it! Its a horrible feeling seeing your phone drown!

Just do this -- if you have an iPhone store, Genius Bar, near you, make an appointment and go see them. My son did something really stupid to his iPhone and they replaced it for us. Didn't charge us a penny! They were so kind and helpful.

On another note, I have my iPhone in a Otter Box Defender Case and will not have anything else on it. I have had my iPhone for two years and it still looks like new. I just bought a new case for it as I had worn the first case out! LOL I love my iPhone too and I would hate to think I had to do without it.

I am sorry you are going through this because I know it is serious but just try to see the iPhone people. We have our phone contract with AT&T but took the phone to the iPhone store and they took care of it.

Let me know what happens. I hope they will help you!

Joyce aka Nana

Thank you so much for the advice! I will try it immediately and let you know how I go!

I will also look for the case you recommended! :)

I have a Nana called Joyce (what a coincidence) She was always very helpful with advice also.

Thank you Joyce! :)
