I can't just sit down to my Wordpress site and write a post. I have to use an alternative method and either copy and paste it in or type in what I've written. It's less intimidatin

I'm like you. Being a left-brainer (analytical engineering mind) I do not, will not, cannot, just sit down and wing it writing a post. If I try to trick myself, my analytical brain kicks in and puts me to work researching for information/data. Never fails. I've tried to over-ride this trigger in my head, but it's a no-go.

With that said... I find it much more logical to write a little bit as I go and save the information in Word or Wordpad. I've lost work while writing directly in WordPress, so by saving my work in a text file and sorting my ideas in folders, I now have a quick resource to turn to for future ideas. I can just take the existing writings and rewrite or give them a twist, and reformat the looks. And, if the data is lost that was uploaded I have the saved file to turn to that I can upload again.

I then do some basic formatting, upload to WordPress, then format within WordPress. My artsy fartsy right brain half of my head is a dysfunctional stepchild, so this is what works best and is most logical for me. LOL

I know exactly where you are coming from! Sitting down in front of a blank Wordpress screen scares the heck out of me!

For me it's the opposite, especially when I first started. In the beginning I had to write inside wordpress. If I tried any other way I would get blocked. Now because I write so much I have started using MS word and then using the "copy from word" feature inside wordpress.

But, since I've lost a couple of really valuable articles I now prefer to write in Google drive. It saves automatically every couple seconds. That auto saving feature is priceless. It's not the most comfortable but I never lose anything. I still feel most comfortable in wordpress though...does that make me strange? ;P

Not at all. I think different personality types just connect with their writing differently. There's no right or wrong way. I was just curious as to how many people could actually turn out a post using only Wordpress. Google drive is awesome and I do utilize it. Thank you for you input.

I think that's the future of writing platforms. Gone are the days of saving it on your computer. Thank goodness, I say. Save it on the internet.

I am like you, Janrenee, I love formats. I build my articles. Not write them. It gives my articles a purpose, a goal.

I don't want to leave readers with this message, "Ok, you'er done reading, Thanks. Hope you enjoyed it. Bye, Come back soon!" They' forget me as soon as they click to another site.

Formats gives an article structure. Makes sure the intended message is clear, and understandable.

It also let's me stop and come back to it at a later date and still remember exactly where I was What I was thinking. the ideas i had, topics I wanted to add. Nothing is lost. Not even my train of thought.

How I do this and which writing platforms I use, well that's a whole different story.

But it is a good one.

I like structure! Things don't make sense to me without it. Thanks for your reply.

I used the same technique too, so your not alone:)

You are not the only one…. I got into the habit to write my article using Microsoft Word. Before I publish it, I have to re-write my article 10 times and check it for all grammar mistakes. My final step is to copy it into my post.

Thanks for your input! It's good to know there are others who do the same!

I generally research my topic and write what I learned about it...giving it my own personality. It's never perfect and I don't expect it to be. I just write!

I think I sometimes over research. It's my personality type I suppose. Thank you for your input.

I don't think you can ever over research a topic. All that extra information is just another article patiently waiting for you.

Mine turn out really bad sometimes but I just delete and start over.

Yes, what you do is what I do as well! To write straight on WordPress is way too daunting for me. I like to rough draft and polish in WordPad, then copy it all to WordPress. I don't think I could do it any other way! I'm really glad to hear someone else prefers this method as well!

Writer's block hits me every time I try. LOL. Thank you for your input!

Nope, I just write what ever pops into my head into wordpress then go back and polish, insert images and publish. If I try to plan it out in advance it turns into a job. Just my own opinion but I think every article turns out better than the one before.

I wish I could do that! My work comes out crappy! I'm one of those people who needs an outline to write anything. Thank you for your input! Maybe someday I'll be like you and can just write from the hip.

I do this with everything I write. I use MS Word. It adds some formatting characters that I have to work with. Either I can save my word file as Rich Text then copy and paste - but my WordPress site allows me to import a Word document (a special button) and it takes care of it for me. I don't see that option on the WA blogs but it still works out.

I don't like writing directly onto the web because I have clicked out of a page I worked on and lost my work.

I didn't know Wordpress allowed you to import a Word file! That's great to know! Thank you for your input!

WordPress has a video tutorial that expands on some of the things we have learned at WA. Check out this link - I think you will find it beneficial.

No data received/error 324 when I try to log on to wordpress. Is my site not up yet? I changed the DNS settings already. Thanks!

Just to let everyone know that when I came back to Atlanta from my hometown, I can login to WordPress. It had to have something to do with the security on my internet at home there. Thanks for you help.

I Googled "error 324" and it seems to be a Chrome issue of some kind. You may want to check that out.
