Affiliate Journey Diary

I joined Wealthy Affiliate (WA) towards end of May 2018. So far I'm loving it.

The training is great - it's indepth, builds gradually and is not 'in your face salesy'. Perfect.

The community is very diverse, ranging from absolute beginners to experts all ready to help out. I've had an amazing welcome, WA feels like a big family - took me a while to catch up with all the good luck messages! Massive thanks to everyone for that, I really appreciate it.

Why did I join WA? I need help.

When it comes to doing for myself I can procrastinate...alot.

I heard about affiliate marketing some years back but didn't do anything about it.

I just saw affiliate marketing as a kind of 'side hustle' (before side hustles were an actual 'thing') that some people were doing to make a bit of extra cash. It wasn't a reliable or 'proper' job though...or so I thought.

Later I started reading, watching and hearing about people living 'location independant lifestyles', living life on their own terms and making alot of money ....all doing affiliate marketing. I didn't do anthing more about it.

Later still I read some books, joined clickbank and then... thought it looked a bit 'complicated', did nothing more and went back to work.

Roll forward some more years. I started to get a bit disillusioned with 'work' and began asking myself the 'what am I doing / why am I doing it?' type of questions.

I then spent more and more time online doing searches on Google and Youtube along the lines of 'make money online' , 'be your own boss' , 'location independant job' - guess what comes up all the time?

yep Affiliate Marketing! (...and Shopify but that's another post)

so here I am looking at affilaite marketing again...except this time I mean business ;)

I'll use my blog as a diary to track my progress through WA i.e what I've done/doing (or not done/doing) to move towards the goals I've set for myself (the ones you set after signingup with WA)

They're big goals, I know I have a lot of learning and a lot of work to do! But the idea is that keeping a diary/record will provide some accountability and I need that.

I'm hoping the WA platform and being part of the WA community will help me fight against my tendency to procrastinate and overthink everything. Since everyone is trying to do the same thing, make money, it should be easier to stay on track.

what have I done so far since joining?

1. Went Premium.

2. Completed the Getting Started Course and a couple modules of the Building Your Traffic course

2. decided on a couple of niches to try out

3. began keyword research using Jaaxy (very handy)

4. Purchased a couple of domain names

5. got a website up and installed my own theme (no content yet)

6. Joined clickbank (disclosure: by joined I mean log back into the old account from years back...the balance is just as I left though - zero)

7. Chose a few products from clickbank to promote and joined those programs

8. Joined 2 other affilate networks

9. Signed up with Shopify

so the journey begins - just need to stay on the road!

I'm glad to have found WA and I'm looking forward to watching and learning from everyone...and making some money of course! Big thanks again to all for the support so far - appreciate it.

Onward!
