havent gotten anywhere with 2 sites. amazon affiliate account has expired. so all links/images on site are no good. should i just completely start from scracth? no idea what ot
I would be hesitant in deleting everything as there is probably a lot of good stuff in there that just needs a bit of “elbow grease”
Both Diane and Catherine have given good advice and Using AI is a brilliant way to move. Forward, change and monetize your site properly.
Personally I would step back from the website and first get some site feedback after which I woinvest in a total site audit via semrush ir another audit tool.
You have invested so much into this now that maybe with a few tweaks you will be on track again.
But don’t give up, only quitters loose.
i would as Diane says ask for feedback on your sites. I am sure there are other ways of monetizing your niche, and it may well be worth adding the informational content. My advice would be to go to bard, or chtgpt or claude 2 whatever your favourite AI site is, and put in this prompt. ""please find me the top twenty affiliate products in the xxxxxx niche. I want you to exclude all amazon products, but I want the URL'S of the sales pages of the products you include. Please rank them in descending order of importance and put the results in a table"
A lot of people get a stumbling block over buying a domain so I thought that that prompt might help you
buying a domain seems pretty straight forward...picking one seems much tougher. good domains likely out there but I may not be able to create content or have knowledge on that particular "niche".
First of all you choose your niche . I am sorry for being unclear when I wrote xxxxxx niche, I meant first of all choose your niche and then insert it into the prompt where the x's are.

Chhose your niche and then use the instructions above. That way you build a website around something you can write about
Hi - that's difficult to answer because obviously, we don't know how much work you have put into your websites.
Ideally, you should have been adding lots of written, unique, in-depth, informational content to your sites, between 10 and 20 posts per month, every month.
I wonder if you have spread yourself too thin, by having 2 sites?
It can be challenging and time-consuming to do all the keyword research and write the necessary high volume of content for more than one site.
It may be worth your while asking for feedback on your sites.
Because, if you have made some obvious errors, that have stopped you from making sales, and I assume you are not getting enough traffic, then there is a risk you could repeat those mistakes on any new site that you start.
thank you for the input. can you refer/suggest a couple good working "functional" sites I can look at for reference? I do not want to "copy" anybody just want to see what a working site looks like.
Well, self-promotion is not permitted here, but anybody who wishes to share their website does so on their profile.
But, you need to be in their network to see this.
This is a website run by a very successful WA member, who has followed the principles here, by writing lots of informational articles, and is earning income through affiliate marketing and ads.

I wouldn't necessarily do that; you can always change your affiliate links or consider alternatives. However, I have gotten plenty of feedback; kindly let us know if you need more help or have additional questions.

should i be entering google site ownership/html code (generated by google console) somewhere on my sites that are managed here as WA?
Yes you have to insert the code in the header section of your website. You can use ad insert plugin to do that, or ask the site support (found above in the help section at wealthy affiliate) to do it for you.
Yes, if you want to use GSC.
Here is some training: GSC (Google Search Console) the Easy Way

The suggested minimum "pieces of content" may vary I understand before "launching" a site and signing up/paying for more options...but using the word press option for creating
You just publish your content as "Posts", each is an individual piece & they get displayed collectively on the blogroll. There's no need to post a minimum amount of pieces before launching... The best thing to do is just fool around with your site, post things, press things, see what happens. You can always undo it & start again. When your site is new it's the best time to play :)
I assume you are fetching a one page template, and you can fill the gaps within the template.
However in general, posts goes in your blog roll and pages are static.
You WordPress by default is set to your latest posts. What is a Page or a Post? - How to Switch a Page to a Post and Vice Versa
If I;m understanding you right, you are trying to determine the format of the site. The bottom line is that Wordpress is a content management System.
The website does have a blog component to it, and your home page is the blog roll that shows what has been posted.
As for the pages v. posts. Anything you want comments on should be made into posts, and they will show up on the blog roll.
Anything you don't want comments on (like Privacy Policies, Affiliate Notices, and/or fee schedules) should be made into pages.
Everything should be laid out fairly clearly in the two training paths as to how to proceed.
I hope this helps and good luck to you.
Wordpress gives you 2 options for a home page.
1) Static page (create one and go to wordpress backoffice -> settings (Not SEO) -> reading (there you can select that page to be your static home page. Save settings.
2) Latest posts which appears as excerpts (first part of the post) of your latest posts. This happens by going to wordpress backoffice -> settings (Not SEO) -> reading (there you can select the latest posts option be your home page. Save settings.
thanks just want to know if several pieces of content that i create individually, just count as 1 if they're all on the same page
if you leave the whole post showing on your 'home' page or blog roll then it will appear as if it is all on one long page...but you are still able to click on a post and jsut show that one...
if you goto settings and either reading or writing you can set your blog up so that you see jsut the excerpt...a short snippet of the post with a read more button...
you can also add categories to your site and use these in menus - assigning relevant posts to categories will allow navigation to that group of posts by clicking on the relevant menu...
so as you can see from the other answers there is more than one way of setting up your site...
have fun
