How do I change my website title? My title is way too long. I've come up with a new idea for a title that may work better. I see a number of sites that say something like "this

Hello Jacky, Merlynmac has answered your question. The only way I know of is to purchase a new domain with the new title, move everything there and place a note on the old site with a link to the new domain.

Thank you Harvey. That was very helpful.

Log into your site dashboard and navigate to Appearance > Customize. Once that loads click on Site Identity and make your changes. Don't forget to publish to save them.

This will change your title and tag line but not your domain. If you wish to change your domain you need to register a new one and then move your site.

How do I do register a new domain? That's actually what I meant.

Go to Websites > Site Domains and then search for and purchase a new domain. Once you have it you can move your site by going to Websites > Site Manger and then clicking on the Move button for your existing site. Pick to a site domain I own and select the new domain from the pull-down menu. Once you're ready click the I'm ready, move my site button.

After I wrote my post, I decided I want it as a page. Is there a way to switch it over, or do I need to re write it as a page?

Do what Marion says!

The easiest way is to copy and paste using the Text tabs instead of the Visual tabs. Then delete the post and empty the trash. You can then make the page title and permalink the same as you had for the post.

You can't pages and post are totally different - You would need to create a page.

Also pages do not automatically get added to your site. You need to add them to your menu in order for them to be available

If you have not published it you can copy & paste onto a page you create. If it's published it might be considered duplicate content - I'm not certain.

How about if I unpublish it, copy and paste it into a page, then delete the post. Would that work?

HAHA - I don't think you can unpublish. You might could copy & paste to a notepad on your computer, delete the post and then create a new page and paste it in. Just to be sure about duplicate content I would change it up a bit though. Google is really getting strict about duplicate content and you don't want to get in trouble with them.

I think you can just copy and paste the post. Then delete the post and copy and paste the same info onto a page. I'm thinking that would work.

I have changed my theme a few times and had to add plug-ins for each one. How do I find out which plug-ins I need for the theme I'm now using and get rid of the rest?

Al

If you deactivate all the theme related plugins your theme will tell you which one(s) it needs.

Click anywhere on the theme you want to delete and you'll find a Delete button bottom right.

Thank you. I'll try that.

When designing an affiliate website, some companies require a complete website. What does this mean? What do I need in my website for it to be considered complete?

Although a website is really never finished, this usually means a functioning website without parts that are being developed. It also means that the website is published.
