Ways to speed up Windows 10

While all of my employees are college graduates, not all hold Professional IT Certifications. Personally, I hold MCSE, MCSA, MCDBA, MCT, Security and A+

Windows 10 is practically a brand new operating system, but it still suffers from some of the typical performance problems, especially if you use it on the old machine. Here are some quick, easy ways to improve the performance of your PC to a new operating system without having to replace any equipment.

Remove transparency

New Menu Windows 10 Start looks sexy and translucent; this transparency might cost you on some resources. In order to make these resources, you can disable transparency go to "Start" menu, Taskbar and Notification Centre. Open the "Settings" menu and go to the "Personalization> Colors" and turn the switch "Make the Start menu, taskbar, and transparent notification centre".

No special effects

Make the "Start" menu and taskbar transparent notification centre - is one thing, but Windows 10 still has many other attractive, built-in special effects. In order to really remove all the special effects, select "System" after right click on the "Start" button and. Press the left side of the "Advanced Settings of System " to open the menu "System Properties" and then click setting under "Performance".

3-Delete the password

If you want to go further than the previous tip, remember that when you use a Microsoft account, Windows 10 will not let you get into the system without a password. It is a very logical given all that contains your computer and your Microsoft account, but with the command netplwiz it is possible to force a little hand to the system. Caution, however, not put in place if your computer never moves from home.

4-Find (and fix) problems

Windows 10 has a built-in utility for troubleshooting performance, which can help you find and correct any problems that may affect the speed of your computer. To open a troubleshooter, right-click on the "Start" button and select "Control Panel." Click on the "System and Security" then on "Troubleshooting" section then click Run maintenance tasks. "

5-Reduce the timeout boot menu

When the computer starts, before loading the operating system for a certain period of time the boot menu is displayed. This gives you the time, for example, to run Windows in Safe Mode. You can remove a few seconds of this waiting time by changing the timeout boot menu, which defaults to 30 seconds. To do this, right-click on the "Start" button and select

"Control Panel." Select "System> Advanced System Settings" under "Startup and Recovery," click "Settings" button.

Change the value to 30 seconds, the time display list of operating systems to 10 seconds and click "OK".

6- Restart the computer

What could be easier to restart the computer? Rebooting the computer clears its memory and stops any process that can waste resources in vain. In addition, turning off the computer - is not the same thing as its restart - the completion of work depends on the Quick Launch settings Windows 10, which saves a snapshot of your PC and its processes in the swap file hiberfile.sys for faster subsequent loading. Rebooting does not use a quick start, so if you have enabled the rapid start-up, restart your computer is the only way to completely clean processes in memory.

Done it all now. Time to reboot ;-) Thanks again.

Liked it and bookmarked it for reference as I can use it or refer others to it.

I'm going to do this tomorrow ;-) Thanks!

Thank you for this information.

Thanks for that. I am going to try some of these suggestions.

I'm still trying to figure out Windows 10 at work...
Very frustrating...

Try right clicking the start menu. If it is still too much for you, ask your admin to install the Windows 7 menu. That is very easy to do.

Terrific suggestions! Thank you very much. Steve

Some great (and useful) tips thank you for sharing

W10 is better than W8 but if you have Windows 7 stick with it as it is still better than the others. Tom.

That has not been my experience. the issue with Windows 8 is the interface. most people are slow to adapt to change so the interface of Windows 8 was difficult and cumbersome for some. Windows 10 brought back some of the simplicity and familiarity. therefore people unfamiliar with the internals and what was actually going on were more easily adaptable to it.

I have software that would absolutely kill Windows 7 that runs perfectly well under Windows 10. this is understandable because of the differences in the way the operating system works. I actually don't care what people do. in the end Windows 10 will be so dominant people who don't agree we'll be so far behind it will probably generate income for us.

Thanks for the information but what software are you talking about that helps.
My information was given to me by a person who was testing W10 long before it was released to the public.
I cannot wait to hear about it as I have W10 & a W 7 computers. Tom.

Trying to explain to you, obviously a home user, what happens in a professional envirnment is probably a waste of time but I will give you a bit of an education.

We are MICROSOFT CERTIFIED PARTNERS. My partners and I have over 100 years combined IT experience. We all hold at least the MCSE certification. My partner David in Naval Intelligence knows the most. Just like everyone else we assign a junior member to do testing. just to point out a few CRAZY things.... anyone with marginal competence knows that Windows 7 is totally incapable of performing as well as Windows 10... I am guessing what they told you is that they liked the User interface of Windows 7 better.

As far as specific software... any overlayed 64-bit application will KILL Windows 7 just because of the way memory is managed. On this laptop I have 64bit Paint Shop Pro, Many Serif Applications, Video Studio, Photoshop, Oracle, Several of our applications and SQL Server which would kill this Computer before it was upgraded to Windows 10. My company has done over 1000 windows 10 installs including a trade school in Houston TX.
