I can't make sense of Google's results!

Hi folks!

Google sometimes gives me a headache!

Upon typing a keyword, it sometimes returns illogical results that I can't make sense of, maybe you can. Let me give you an example:

Say I look for this keyword: "types of carbs". Look at the results below:

1- Why is that result featured in a frame? is it Google or the website?

2- Why isn't the first result that's featured (diabetes.org) which an authoritative website while the second result (featured) is just a niche website?

Then, if we scroll down, we find the third result:

Again, why is the third result shows in the "people also ask" section? Is Google or some optimization within the website? Why not the 1st or 2nd result are displayed in this area?

Many thanks!

ZED,

Hi Ziane,

I can't offer any solutions to this problem, I came here today to learn something from the comments, that being said, I like Michael's reply. Hope you get this resolved. Have a great day.

Hi Gaylene!
You know, I think this proves that some of the talk about authoritative websites, tough niches and competition doesn't make much sense anymore. It's doable! provided we do our homework obviously :)

1

Yes I agree, it's good for our sites.

It has to do with Structured Data Markup. When you set up your website in the way that they want you to do it, it makes it easier for their bots to troll your site and you get better preferences.

2

To the point that it helps a small niche website to outrank an authoritative one! that's something to consider.

1

Absolutely, it gives you a fighting chance against the big boys who don't necessarily know this trick.

Very enigmatic, indeed!

Yep, tons of nonsense to rummage through.

It's a minefield of problems :)

I mean they're hammering home SEO, optimization and what not, why they don't OPTIMIZE their results!

Exactly :)

It is about pretty girl in the featured post. Now we know what we have to do.

There was a question by Nathaniell on this issue a few days ago. His own post was number 1 and featured was the second one. We shall never know how Google works.

:) so funny, Jovo! I guess it's the girl too :)
