Super Bloom at Ironstone Vineyard
Super Bloom is happening at Ironstone Vineyard. I look forward to this every year. Murphys is about a 45 minute drive to the North. The drive this afternoon was just gorgeous, a little bit of cloud cover as a storm is coming this weekend. I had to go see all the daffodils before the rain beat the blooms down! My mom and I usually make this trip but she's on vacation this week! So here I go again on the road!
Another cool place to visit near Yosemite
The drive is really nice. I drive through Columbia, a historic California Gold Rush town. (I will give you a tour of this charming town another day!) Just real quick, it has a old soda fountain, a candy store with sassafras hard candy, a blacksmith shop, a one lane wooden bowling alley and a stagecoach ride! The Old Fallon House is a live theatre hosted by Sierra Repertory Theatre. I get so excited I had share that with you anyway..passing through Columbia.
Next is the Parrotts Ferry Bridge, it crosses over the Stanislaus River which feeds into New Melones Lake. Natural Bridges is a swimming area near the bridge.Today there where about 5 young kids standing in the rockwall..they were waving at the cars. They yelled "Nice Camaro" and waved when I drove by. I honked back! Just down the road is Moaning Caverns, another day trip zipling and swimming in the caverns during the summer months.
Made it!
Driving on the last straightway to the vineyard, the rural road was lined with daffodiols along the fence line. With the rows of vines behind the fencing and the sun going down over the vineyard I had to take my first picture. It was 4:18 pm. It' going to get great I already know it. There is about a quarter of a mile of this beauty.
I turn into the Ironstone Vineyard guest welcoming area. The sign says Closes at 5 pm..I better hurry!
A I walk up to the entrance a lady was there having her dad take her photo. I said I'll take one of you two..she was so happy! She said she would take my picture, well thank you I said..but only if your daddy will join me! I love people!
Ok the blooms! They were everywhere, in wine barrels, in the grounds, around beautiful statues, in walkways and pathways. All different varieties of daffodiols and tulips! I love the red and yellow ones! I really should learn the species of them, but thats another day. There is a old delivery truck with flowers all around it that is the coolest ever I had to get several pictures of it! The smell is overwhelming, with all the different fragrances from all the different flowers. The Rose garden is in full bloom right now and smells incredible, there's no words to describe it. If I ever had to describe the floral smell, this would be it though! I had a few minutes to just stand there and take it all in.. the smell..the view of the sunset..the peacefulness for a minute or two..the crazy driving man on the golf cart coming towards me saying "Gates close at 5"..I got a picture of that too!
As I drive away he tells me, Have a good evening", I told him "I already have thank you". I am happy from the inside out right now.
It's so good for the soul to stop and smell the roses from time to time..
There is a tasting room and a museum which I'll talk about at another time.
