Perfectly Imperfect

I've just finished up Level 1 Certification, upgraded to Premium, and have my initial two sites moved to my own domains. It seems like a good time to step back and reflect on what I've learned so far.

I have been full-steam ahead since i signed up about a week ago. Other than a previously planned 2-day vacation, any chance I get, I am logged in to Wealthy Affiliate. I feel like I am playing catch up from the last ten years of knowing online business was the avenue for me, but not having all the pieces in place to make it happen. I know I have to be careful - too much too fast in the beginning can lead to burn out but jumping in with both feet and putting all my cards on the table seems to be a quality of mine ... and I've learned to use it to my advantage.

See, I used to be an absolute perfectionist. I've always been very detail-oriented, and I want everything to be "just right." I would spend hours getting something exactly the way I wanted it. The problem, though, was that if I couldn't get it "just right", I would get hung up there. I couldn't let good enough be good enough. Eventually, facing the wall of imperfection, I would give up.

I'm not that way anymore. I've learned to enjoy what I call "perfectly imperfect." I've learned to embrace my flaws. Take, for example, my new websites. They are far from perfect!! I don't even LIKE one of my domain names. Do you know what I realized though? It will be okay. Something with imperfections is better than nothing. I know that I can work to improve those things in the future. I'm not going to stress on it right now - I'm just going to keep moving forward.

My "all in" frame of mind is an example of this also. I tend to drop most other things I have going on. Not the most important things, but things that really won't matter in the long run. Again, I've learned to let it go. Maybe I'll drop my laundry off this time. Stay in my pajamas all day because I'm immersed in writing my new article, or in a new training lesson. Either way, those things will get done and they won't matter in the long run. What WILL matter though is that I put time into building my business. It will payoff.

We all have imperfections. Sometimes they can be used to your advantage, sometimes they just are what they are. It's okay. We are all Perfectly Imperfect. Learn to embrace your flaws as well as your strengths, and do what you are gifted to do

Keep Moving Forward.

Being too critical of ones self can stop you in your tracks. If we stumble when we walk and just sit down, we'll never learn to run. I have to keep reminding myself of these things. Thanks for helping.

Hi Jennifer,
Wow, you remind me of myself, lol.

I used to be a perfectionist as well, and a lot of times I'd end up giving up in frustration on something because it never was exactly how I thought it should be. I'd always find something that didn't look or sound right.

But, now I've learned that it's better to at least get it done to "good enough" when it comes to pretty much anything. It can always be improved upon later if it really needs it.

Best wishes :) ~Sherry
