2 Simple Tools To Help You Track Your Competition

I want to share with you something that I found out to be a very helpful tool when it comes to competition.

How many times you wrote an extremely good post about your blog (for any niche), and you realized that even if you believed that the competition was low, the first 10 or more people had so many backlinks, bigger domain authority, and even a huge page authority...

I know it happened to me also a few times and it was annoying me for a few reasons.

I spend hours and hours to write a post that will never rank in the first probably.

Furthermore, even If I see what others wrote about this specific Google, I didn't count the fact that Google knows them for years and trust them more than me.

So, I decided to find something (for free if possible) to help me track and learn more things about my competitors.

It might sound bad for most people, but yeah, even if we are in the same niche and we write a post for the same keyword, Google doesn't care if we know each other...in Google's eyes, we compete for that first page.

So, As I said, I would show you 2 tools that probably will show you many things about your "competitors."

Use Ubersuggest from Neil Patel.

Yeah, you probably know that already. In case you don't know, this tool is simple.

This tool is amazing, in my opinion, but I recommend you to be careful when you want to see the traffic of another blog.

I mostly use this tool for a few things.

I type a keyword (for example) how to lose weight, and I see the top 10 blogs.

In that way, I can see their backlinks for that specific post or in general. I can even search every blog separately after that.

I won't explain too much here. I don't want this post at WA to be very long.

Just go ahead and experiment (play) with the platform and see for yourself.

A complain that I have with Ubersuggest is that it's not so accurate to track the organic traffic and estimated traffic that a post gets.

The next tool that I trust a bit more is Moz.

If you don't know, this tool is very expensive (for my budget, at least), but the info they can give you is amazing!

So my story with Moz is a bit silly, I wanted to find out my Domain Authority for my blog and maybe for others also, but I didn't want to pay $100's to do that.

So I searched a bit more about how I can utilize that tool for free.

So I created a free account and searched what the free membership can do for me.

After a few testings I see that they give me 10 free searches to check my domain and general info, I have to say that everything I saw (for my blog) was actually to the point. So, I can't guarantee if you want to search other blogs if you get exactly all the backlinks DA and PA from inside the platform.

So, with that said, I saw something that they call it Moz bar.

And it's a chrome extension that it will automatically show you the page authority and domain authority of other's people blog.

Let me show you an example. If we search the term "How to lose weight."

As a conclusion of this post, I would like to tell you that tracking and learning your competitors might be the way to success.

I found a guide that will explain to you how to download and use Moz Bar (not an affiliate link or a promotion.)

Lastly, If you are going to use them, don't take for a guarantee that if a blog has 10-page authority, for example, and you have 5, you can't outrank them.

I don't even know the reason, but I outranked people that they had more DA & PA than me, their blogs are years older than mine.

Maybe it's the SEO techniques that matter. Maybe it is the "words" that every post has; I don't know. I just want to tell you that If you follow what WA tells you to do, you will outrank many people :)

I want to share in the comments below if you know any other tool that will help us track others even better.

Also, tell me if you had any experience with the platforms I've mentioned, did you like them?

Wonderful. thanks again.

Thanks for the insight, one of the things holding me back for years has always been the "tech" side of producing a blog. Definitely gonna take a look into both of these tools.

Thanks!!

After a year here at WA, I realized that we will always have to learn something new.
