3 Ways I plan to FOCUS and Win Big

I started with Wealthy Affiliate in 2016.

I have learned a great deal, have managed to get steady work from clients, and created a money making website that I will continue to develop and monetize. I've got consistent work writing web copy for well-known brands. I've even had the opportunity to ghostwrite.

But, I will admit, I have been slightly scatterbrained in my attempts to juggle all of the abundance. I realized "yes" and "sure" were not always the right answers.

So, I've decided to reel it in a bit in order to be more productive in the things that matter to me and to the people I want to help.

I've set a goal in the next 6 months to score a year-long contract with a major online publisher.

How?

FOCUS

Follow. One. Course. Until. Successful.

By doing so, I can be methodical and automated about getting that contract.

(Despite the distractions that can come in the typical day of a single parent, work-at-home homeschooler living abroad.)

I plan to F.O.C.U.S. in 3 specific ways.

Methodically

I will follow many recommendations like:

  • Enter contests and challenges
  • Have a marketing plan that I consistently “work”
  • Create an information packet, or a one-sheet portfolio
  • Complete my copywriter’s website presence (already have the domain – time to get to work)
  • Write every day

But, I’ll also infuse some analytics and creativity in my contract search. Yes, both.

(Hey, I homeschool. I’m always thinking about creative ways to work and learn.)

Analytically

One analytical thing I started last month that I intend to continue using is my blogging binder. In it, I keep:

  • Growth goals
  • Blogging goals
  • 1-month, 3-month, 6-month, and yearly goals
  • Blog post planner and checklist
  • Newsletter planner and checklist
  • Improvement ideas for every platform I use and a record of any changes I’ve made on them
  • Affiliate tracker, income tracker and expenses tracker
  • Month- and Year-in-Review forms for EVERYTHING

Keeping my focus before I started my binder was nearly impossible. Now, I consider it one of my road maps.

So, it stands to reason that setting goals, testing, analyzing and then implementing what works can only help me in getting that coveted contract.

Creatively

Something I recently created is what I call my A.S.A.P. list. And it has a two-fold meaning.

As Soon As Possible – meaning these are the things that I do as soon as I wake. They include:

  • Hydrate
  • Spiritual
  • Budget & Buffer (a platform I use for one-stop social media sharing)
  • Mental (reading a portion of a book that enlightens and educates – personal or business)
  • Active marketing and promotion (Get and keep clients)
  • Physical (usually stretching or Yoga)

As Smooth As Possible – in other words, if I don’t do these things in the morning, my day has already gone downhill. I know life happens, but I like things to go as smoothly as they possibly can.

When A.S.A.P. (my morning routine) has been handled, I’m able to focus on the writing, the research, the studies, and the homeschool. Without suddenly remembering a forgotten bill payment, asking myself if I’ve done anything to market my business, or wondering what that pain is in the side of my neck.

I know the idea of a morning routine is nothing new.

I just like the acronym A.S.A.P.

It helps me F.O.C.U.S.
