22 Years as an affiliate marketer today! Help Celebrate.
Hey folks, 22 years ago today I bought my 2nd computer and was playing around in a Yahoo Group on gardening I created, and was told by a member I could be making money with my group in affiliate marketing. I was directed to the forums at AdlandPro.com to meet other affiliates, and I haven't looked back since.
Today's mission will be to write the first post and fully launch my new website and new personal brand on theBlogMan.com, sort of figure it was about time I owned the domain because from groups to forums to blogs in a year was my fast-paced move into content marketing.

The post will be part walk down memory lane and part looking forward, and should be a fun read. What I could use is some of our more experienced members to remind me of things we had and no longer, or are new for this business. I know we used to have a lot of things like Yahoo Geosite, Google Groups, Yahoo Groups, and MySpace profiles. Tools like LinkedIn and Facebook were either not yet or were still infants. Nearly all of us learned to build social followings in forums, and WordPress was the big game changer, an upgrade from those crappy Blogger.com blogs.
I made my first sale in under three months, and it was just $1.80 from the sale of a Garen Tool and some Gloves on the eBay Partner Network. Amazon still loved its affiliates back then, and nobody seemed to trust anyone online. I suppose some things change, and some don't, but back then, avatars were everywhere, and only the bold showed their faces because, somehow, showing your face online would attract stalkers offline.
Anyhow, I have some sleep to do and then a full post to build out.

Lots has changed in those 22 years, I am into my 24th year now and the change in the last 2 let alone the last 24 has been crazy. But lots of fun at the same time and I am more excited about the next 5 years than I have ever been!
Congrats on the 22 year mark Andy, and I love the plaque!
Thanks Kyle. I think AI is the biggest game changer yet and my new blog will voice proper use in big way.

Hello Andy,
Well done for being in the affiliate marketing industry for 22 years, that's quite an achievement. I'm sure you have seen many changes, as you mention. I remember WordPress first coming out, it's came a long way since its first release, it was certainly much further ahead of blogger, that was very basic.
I'm sure your first commission must've been quite exciting! It's interesting, as I think my first commission was a few pounds, I sold a wheelbarrow, on the first day my website went live. However, I had the website professionally built, so the Webmaster built the backend, before he built the front end, so I could upload content, as I believe he had several projects on. That was back in 2006 or seven, I think.
It's great that you are still in the game, Andy.
Let me wish you all the best.
Roy
Yeah my Geosite was a bit of fun as well, a basic structure with tons of potential and just a little effort made it mine other than the fact it was on a subdomain of Yahoo not knowing a thing about SEO.
It's amazing how things have changed, Andy, but the great news is, you're still standing! I really do think that the Internet is such a wonderful invention, it's really change the lives for all of us, but especially Internet marketers.
Have a great day.
Roy
