Spirituality Blog and FB now Live!
All week last week, God was placing in on my heart to get my God Does Heal facebook page up and to switch my old blog from the free wordpress to my hosted one. I love how easy it is to transfer all your old posts from one blog site to another without having to use much time or lose any comments you had acquired on the posts.
www.GodDoesHeal.org - However... I don't quite know how to monetize the site beyond putting ads on it and a few spirituality books. I will have a page devoted to Joel Osteen and one devoted to Andy Stanley as I already have picture quotes of them being re-pinned all over pinterest. So, I was thinking of having a few pages devoted to free quotes I make with photos I take (I'm a photographer) that people can download and use. I will also have free facebook covers people can download and use. The more traffic it attracts, the more potential I would have for ads and such.
I will keep my SEO blog and my photography blog but the spirituality blog is where my heart is. An hour after I put up my fb page: www.fb.com/GodDoesHeal ,a girl wrote to me to say she found my blog through my fb page and it was exactly what she needed to help her with a situation of grief. That's my purpose. To help people in times of need. God has placed that on my heart since I was a very young girl.
Is it wrong to try to monetize a spirituality website? Any thoughts? Suggestions?

Feeling the needs and hurts of other people and wanting to share God's love with them is a gift that is slowly slipping in the world today.
When I was 18 , or 19 , I read an amazing book by Joyce Meyer, "The battlefield of the mind" that changed the direction of my life and put a lot of the hardships that I was going through at that time into prospective.
Seeing a moment , and connecting with a moment is two different things all together.

Don't think it is wrong at all if you are sympathetic to peoples needs and issues which I feel you are reading the post.
You can put people in touch with other Christian products by putting "affiliate Christian programs" in google. You can join up to sell books, cinema tickets, apparel, music, etc. There are loads of ideas out there.
As another thought as a photographer you could create T-shirts, mugs, calendars etc with versus on them and sell them direct from your site.

If it's a site about "Spirituality" in general, naw, nothing wrong with it all. There are several sites built by individuals here that sell spiritual and "Religious" items. Really depends on your primary motive to build the site.
Thanks. My primary motive was to reach people who were searching for God / answers / guidance. I started the blog in 06 and didn't do much with it. Now I feel God telling me to definitely get it out there. I started a FB page for it and got over 400 fans this past week! People are interested in the topic for sure. Making money would be a great side benefit as long as it in no way detracts from the quality of the site and doesn't come across as intrusive. I figure linking to spirituality books on Amazon would be good, but won't earn me much in revenue.
Then in this case I would probably start out with making Bibles available, probably ESV version, maybe an ESV Study Bible. I'd stay away from inspirations books to start out with due to the fact that many of the writers these days tend to be heretical. I would definitely make available Charles Spurgeon's Morning and Evening Devotional... maybe RC Sproul's Chosen by God and most definitely Pilgrims Progress by John Bunyan... you get the point. All of these lead directly to the scriptures that will lead them to the Gospel. Reaching out to people that are searching for God is a wonderful but very serious endeavor. You mustn't put it in the hands of individuals that will just "make them fill good about themselves" and then lead them astray. Another thing too is providing Bibles and books on audio. Many people don't have time to sit down very long but will get in their car and commute for 1 or 2 hours. I drove into L.A. for 32 years (1 to 2 hours each way) and then drove a tanker around So Cal each day on top of that commute for another 12 hours. You can imagine how much time I listened to the radio, tape player and cd player!!!
You can also provide mp3 players, ipods or other media devices! This could turn out to be a pretty profitable site... bottom line is that your site glorifies God, everything will follow!
