Making Moves
I wanted to take a few moments to hopefully accomplish two things. One, I wanted to take a crack at this blogging feature here at WA. Two, I wanted to inspire someone.
We are all here at WA for a reason. Some of you are highly seasoned marketers. Some people, like myself, are just getting their feet wet in starting an online venture or a business of any kind. A few of you are like I was last week. Up late, scouring the web for ideas to make money online.
Some back story.
Several weeks ago after getting home from a long day at work, I was browsing Facebook and came across one of those famous ads in which someone fans out $10,000 on the seat of their Mercedes-Benz and asks, "Do you wanna learn to make this kind of money"?
I thought to myself, "Uh.. Yeah. Why would you even ask me that". My inner voice screamed scam, but my curiosity thought why not at least see what its all about. I clicked the link and was directed to a site that offered a course for $49 to teach you how to build a business. I thought more. I came to the conclusion that a small $49 investment would be worth the knowledge it may bring as I am a full noob. It came with hours and hours of videos, dozens of "Steps" (some of you may know what I am talking about with that hint) and a personal coach and weekly conference calls to check-in on your progress.
I'm still working on that program as time allows but with a complicated compensation package and a top-tier (another hint) buy-in of $60,000 I decided to come up with a back up plan and something that required slightly less capital.
Then came Wealthy Affiliate. It was as though it fell from the Google heavens into my phone. I was blown away by the amount of value they offered. I mean, a chance to try their entire site and build your own website for free for a week and then only $49 a month?
Something had to be up. Entire hosting, training, SEO and personal coaching for $49?
I decided why not.
That was last week and I do not think I will ever look back. I have upgraded to Premium after my 7 day trial ended and will likely convert to Annual soon. I am convinced that what I have learned here in the last week at WA would have taken me months, maybe years of research and anguish to learn on my own. The community of like-minded individuals who want to see you succeed is worth this membership. The expertly crafted videos that walk you through every step of creating a website are by themselves worth the membership.
I may sound like someone who promotes WA but I am not. I am simply writing this as some hybrid of a positive review/rant/blog to maybe show someone out there who was like me last week that this is the real deal. WA is worth it!
Some other curiosities have occurred in my journey these last few weeks from that other business dabble with the lots of steps to WA Premium.
I bought a domain.
If you came up to me 5 years ago and said I would be purchasing a website, creating content from scratch and effectively building a business I would have scoffed and said no way Jose (apologies if your name is Jose). But today I made a move. A small $15.99 move. That move came from another move made earlier in the day. Upgrading to Premium.
What I am trying to get at is if you want something, you have to at least try. If you REALLY want something, you have to DO.
My entire mindset seems to be rapidly evolving. Maybe due in part to books I have been reading and a personal devolpement program I purchased. What I used to see as money I am seeing now as an investment in myself.
I am investing my time (the most valuable asset we all own) and money into things that will likely return much more than a profit.
My goal is to build a $10 million dollar a year company. The way I see it one of two things will happen. This venture and other projects I have will either be a massive success, so much so I can quit my job and stay at the beach all day OR it will fail. It will certainly have failed if I never tried.
Remember, you can either TRY or you can DO. Right now I am CHOOSING to DO.
