Be the turtle.

When I first joined WA, July 27th of this year, I was excited and overwhelmed! This was what I had dreamed of for some time now, but I knew so very little about computers and all this affiliate marketing stuff!

But I rolled up my sleeves and went to work. I spend long hours in the training and asking MANY questions. I read a lot of blogs and I ask MORE questions.

The wealth of information on here is WONDERFUL, and scary beyond belief!

Information overload!

It is like being back in college! Exhausting and exhilarating!

But I still get overwhelmed at times!

However, I just take my time. I Ignore all the stuff that I don't understand yet, and try to concentrate on the training. Things are slowly coming into focus. I learn something new every day!

I heard it once said that the best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time.

My advice to newbies that are feeling overwhelmed is to just take small bites of that elephant and chew them carefully. Swallow, then rest before you tackle the next one.

Just take it slowly. Remember the story of the tortoise and the hare? It was the turtle that won the race, not the rabbit.

This is not a race, of course...

...But if it were. Be the turtle.

Virginia

Yes I agree, never rush into something like this if you go to fast, you may miss things along the way. I try to take my time as well, I learned a long time ago to take my time and absorb everything I am learning and then move on. I know I am in a much better place now with WA than ever before and everything will come if you just give it time. Great advice! Thanks

I am munching on my elephant very slowly and learning to love the taste.

Excellent post and excellent advice!

Thank you, comes from my own experience at getting overwhelmed.

After two decades of online marketing I still have that feeling every single day :)

Alrighty then! Now I'm nervous!

Don't be! This is how it works :)

Accept it. Embrace it ... Be the turtle ... One bite at a time

Hey, that's pretty good advice, thanks!

Actually it's a stolen tip :(

LOL!!!

If you are getting overwhelmed take a break and finally get the housework done.

I do a little bit of work in the house every time I get up to eat or go to the bathroom. I always try to get something accomplished before I sit down again.

I do that a bit but it still is not the same when you are fully committed. Not for anyway.

It is just my son and I here. I keep up pretty well. I take breaks to let the dogs outside, feed my chickens, I don't sit at this computer constantly. But it IS almost 2 am and I am still at it...

So am I. My cat is sleeping beside me and I am improving a post because I don't know what to write in a new one.

My 3 pound dog is asleep inside of my shirt as I type this.

LOL I said this in one of my blog posts the other day. BUT not in these exact words.

Great advice, Virginia. Feeling overwhelmed by information can be a challenge at various stages. But, remembering about the success of the turtle is the way to go :)

Yup

Go for it! I am in the same position! It is possible to achieve your goal!

Indeed it is!!

Yes, there is a lot of info to take in at first when you are in training. I felt like a sponge absorbing and absorbing. The funny thing is though you do get through it eventually.

If you forget something you can always go back to the training and re-digest the info, that is the beauty of WA.

Regards

Janet

Yes, I love the fact that the training never goes away.

"the best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time" - I love this saying not sure who wrote it. You are so right, take your time, learn and remember it is not a race. It is a lesson I learned the hard way at first. Thanks for your post.
Mary

I have no idea where that saying came from, but it is true. I just wanted to encourage anyone who is feeling overwhelmed. I have been there and it is scary at times.

Thanks a lot Virginia!

Just a few words of encouragement. I know how overwhelming it can be here at WA.

Hey Virginia,
Thanks for sharing!! Thats a great analogy!!! And good advice..

Tried and True

Elaine

I am plugging along slowly, but I am learning a great deal.

Very true Virginia. We all need to work at a pace we are comfortable with. Jim

Yes, rabbits make stupid mistakes.
