DAY 2

Hi all, just updating my status, i haven't noticed any improvement on my rankings but i wasn't expecting any since is only day 2 and i still have a lot to do.

For the next few days i will continue tuning up the website

Day 2 bullet list

  • change main bar background to blue instead of black
  • tune up colors and text of my logo
  • create, install and set up aWeber account & mailing list
  • create a new post

Here is the result so far.

DAY 1

Hi, lately i have been questioning myself about my post rankings. In my way of seeing things, my posts should be ranking on google, with this i don't mean they should be on page one but, they should be somewere.

The odd thing about all this is i have two posts with no comments at all, real small post and they are the only ones showing up on google.

So, i decided to change themes and tune up my posts, and check if anything gets any better.

I will keep you guy up to date of my changes.

Below you can see my old website

Now my new website after the install

I had to remake my logo mostly resize it, also changed the top of the website so it would look better. This will be changing in the next few days as i will and dislike things.

For today i set goal of:

  • Install new theme
  • configure the basics
  • edit all logos
  • change name of categories
  • minor changes to two posts.
  • reindex all website in webmaster tools
  • ping website after index using ping goat

After browsing the website i noticed i had some issues with my about me page wich i edited and fixed the contact page as well.

After day one new page look like this

Still a lot of work to be done, but i belive it will be worth it.

Looka wonderful. Looks very inviting. Glad you shared it.

I am doing the same thing with one of mine. It is a pain, but I think it will be worth it.

Thanks for sharing

Sharon

Short answer. No. Changing themes, logo and making you site pretty will not make any difference to ranking.
Making your site user friendly, fast and adding quality content will help you rank well.
Everything you can do to improve your reader experience will help you engage with them. Engaging with your visitors will help you rank.
Work out what you want and how you intend to help your audience and deliver.
Hope this helps
Cheers Kev

Thanx for your feedback.
Being a computer guy I thought of that myself.

Thing is, the only two posts that are ranked are the ones that shouldt be. Short posts, no engagement all all, keywords with high competition...

So I figure something is wrong and decided to change things to find what is !

How did you test the ranking on your posts. You know if you test from your computer your sites will always appear on the first page. If you are searching with Google use a incognito browser with the "NCR" tag. ie Http://google.com/ncr This is No Country Redirect.
Always share your posts on your social media, epsecially G+. Google loves everything Google.

There are no short cuts to ranking although we are yet to see the results of Penquin, the new Google update.

Hope this helps
Cheers Kev

Kev i used semrush to check my rankings plus couple of other tools like:

Ok I would be interested to find out why you ranked a cometitive keyword so well with little content. Have you research it more to find out why? Cheers kev

It looks like your change of theme will improve the user experience (UX). So that should keep people on your site longer. The search engines like improved user experience too.

You will get there.
