Heather,
Without the "speed bumps" where would the fun be? :P
The training here is of a very standard and caters for the everyone , novice to expert alike.
Perseverance is key to succeed in getting your site up and running, do not expect to get everything right all at once, it takes time and effort on our part but the end result and sense of achievement is hard to beat.

Hello Heather & Robbie,
I hope to clarify some of your doubts by writing some lines here.
@Heather
For the moment, do not use the domain you have just purchased.
Avail yourself of one of the free websites here on offer which you should create with the name "something". siterubix.com
Substitute "something" above with domain name you purchased
For example if you purchase the domain name mywebsite.com You should create a website here with mywebsite.siterubix.com
After you do that, go directly to "Get Started Here" section and go through the training systematic, do not wander off course, explore everything presented to you slowly and carefully until you understand it fully, repeat it however many times you need to until you "get" it, once you "got" move on to the next topic, if you are in a pinch ask for help, there are loads of people ready and willing to help you.
Once you have built your site totally you can quickly transfer it to your purchased domain.
I hope that clarified in some way your query.
@Robbie
The acquisition of a domain is outside of the scope of Wealthy Affiliate however once purchased you can use the resources at Wealthy Affiliate to host your site (with the domain name you purchased elsewhere)
The cost of a domain name varies greatly but you can count on a cost of 10 to 15 dollars for 1 year of ownership that should not be a deal buster at this stage of the game.
I do recommend you to go directly to "Get Started Here" section and go through the training systematic, do not wander off course, explore everything presented to you slowly and carefully until you understand it fully, repeat it however many times you need to until you "get" it, once you "got" move on to the next topic, if you are in a pinch ask for help, there are loads of people ready and willing to help you.
