Milestone One and on to the Next One
Wohoo! I made it through the first training module and am now a premium member as well (thanks to my sister - a WA member - for encouraging me to come here!). Excitement hangs in the air when I look ahead. I am using a new skill - what was it again... oh yeah! Goals!
I've always blown off goals as something normal, organized people do, not the wild and untamed creatives (I know, I know). What I've learned is that goals don't have to be stuffy and something your college professor said you should do, you can make them your own. You can be creative in your goal setting.
A quick story for your inspiration:
The friend who made goal setting seem easiest for me is the same one who probably has accomplished more than any of the other people telling me to set goals without giving me a human example. This friend, as she tells it, was overweight to the point that her life was dependent upon losing hundreds of pounds. She was looking specifically at losing over 300 pounds.
When she tells this story, she mentions how that is more than most of the people in the room weigh (she taught this in a women's group we attended). She said the thought of losing that much can't be done. "You can't eat that elephant," she said, or something to that effect. But she didn't give up, she broke it down into bite-sized pieces.
"I can lose 30 pounds at a time," she decided. She said she can't do 300 but she can do 30. I won't go into everything because it is her story to tell but she inspired me so much that I want to share a bite of her wisdom with you. So, 30 pounds, that was her goal. And she did it! She did it over and over and over and as she did it got easier. She has lost over half of her body weight now and is still going.
The reason I share this with you is because I feel like that's what we do here. The way the training is set up, in such lovely bite-sized pieces, is an easy format to swallow. If you find yourself overwhelmed at any point in the process of setting up your sites (or even later with other business goals), just figure out how much you CAN do and break up your goals into whatever they need to be to get started.
I'm excited to have taken this first bite, and this is my first share with this beautiful community. I've been lurking and reading your posts and watching you do your thing, now I've done my thing and I'm jumping into the waters with you all.
May there be many more bites in your future.

I love this Heather,
In the last year, in my 40s have lost 10kg (about 20 pounds). It's changed my perspective on my ability to change things. I know I can do it now and that I do have power in this life.
Love your writing style too, by the way.
Marion
